Went to our local country fair today and did the fun scurry.  Have to say that the two people doing it were two of the nicest people I've met.  So helpful, gave tips, said that they'd seen my breed work previously and that they were brilliant retrievers and how nice it was to see one with a full coat.

Lastar didn't do brilliantly as he's never been in the situation before so didn't know properly what to make of it, but after a couple of goes he soon got the idea.  His son Marley was also there and I didn't know he was going and he did brilliantly at it on his first go.

Had a lovely day.  Shame that the people running it were from Portsmouth, though, that's just a little too far to go for training :d

Sounds fun - I've heard of scurries but never seen one - what do they have to do?

On the scurry on Sunday they had to retrieve 3 dummys.  You sat with you dog next to the pole and one corner.  The person through one dummy behind some netting straight in front but away from the dog, the next one was thrown into a paddling pool :d  and the last one was thrown to the left hand side again behind some netting.

It is timed and you send your dog out to retreive the first dummy and they have to come back to you next to the pole, send him out for the next dummy and so on.  All the time it is timed.  The fastest one is the winner.  I didn't wait around to see where I was, although I was told that I was definiely not the slowest.  It was quite funny though as a number of Lab's wouldn't even retrieve !! 

Hmm, so you throw all 3, then send your dog for each one in turn? That sounds difficult! My Cavalier can retrieve a dummy, but I think it'll take lots of training before she could be directed to a specific dummy, or retrieve from water! :-)
