some of you may remember about me saying that at work we had a cat called Kitkat, the only surviving kitten from a litter who ended up being handreared, well back at teh begining of august (the 2nd to be exact) kitkat went missing, we phoned all the vets, went searching, let the kennels know, put up posters etc, i even emailed Lokismum and asked her to keep an eye out for him. Yesturday i had a phone to say that someone in the same street thought that they had seen him, so everything was dropped so that we could search for him, it turned out it was his mum :( . Today when i was making my lunch my work phone rang, its always on just incase one of the handlers needs advice etc, when i answered my boss was on the other end in tears all i could catch was 'Kitkat', i said that i was coming and to wait for me. When i got to work i was told someone had found him and that there wasnt much left of him :( it turns out someone whilst walking their dogs last night had found him noticed his collar so took him home to bury, when they went to the pub they saw one of the posters so called this morning. the worst bit is he didnt 'just die' someone hung him with a boot lace   to a barbed wire fence, the whole 3 weeks that we have been looking ofr him he has been dead :( he was just 10 mins from his house, and the fact that he probably walked up to his killers for a fuss makes it worse, as being handreared he was friendly to everyone. The police are investigating and if and when the culprit is caught they will be charged with animal cruelty and damage to property, they have said that they will be making an appeal in the local paper for information as well, also one of our handlers who lives locally has said he will dig up what he can to find the culprit.
We can only hope that Kitkat wasnt tormented before being hung and that he died quickly :(

Oh that's just awful :( :( Let's hope they find the b*ggers who did this to an innocent animal.
- By Lea Date 27.08.06 16:47 UTC
That is awful.
I cant begin to imagine what goes through the minds of the evil people that can do things like that.
Run free KitKat.

Ohhh dear, I'm so sorry!! The same happened here in lovely Liverpool:rolleyes: Some people think it's a good idea to string cats up out of first floor windows in Kensington....it aint clever and it aint funny and traumatises all the local kids going to school(and the grown ups too) this is the fear I have about our society these days...it just gets worse and worse:mad: Hope kitkat had a quick end... I'd quite like to string up the scum that do it!!! But I'd get arrested knowing my luck!! So sorry, love Dawn XXX

Why do these evil thugs do these dispicable things :-(  What is wrong with them!  A terrible waste of life, poor, poor Kitkat. May all these evil acts find their way back to the perpatrators x 10.

God help this world with evil people like this around.  Poor KitKat, I really hope they catch the culprits.
- By gundogsrbest [gb] Date 28.08.06 15:49 UTC
thank you all for your replies, the police have said it is okay for us to put posters up to try and catch his killer(s) as long as we pass any information on, my boss is also offering a reward for information leading to arrest and conviction of the culprits.
Yes Margot there are several pigeon keepers in the lane, old Nick kept pigeons but i think they have now gone, there dont seem to be as many chickens either since he died, and then there is a small holding at teh other end of the lane that also have pigeons amoungst other birds, but i have seen our cats on their land and they have never been that bothered about the cats. The area Kitkat was found is frequently 'rabbited' as it is full of warrens, what makes it all the harder is that i walk past the place he was hung several times a day, but due to the layout of the land and the fact that we werent expecting him to be on a fence we never saw him :(

That's terrible. Poor little KitKat, there just seems to be so many people I wouldn't describe as human beings. I'm so sorry Tanya.

Things like this make you wonder when the twits in the goverment will bring back the birch [and hanging] There is absolutely no deterrents these days and so these thugs are getting away with just about anything knowing full well all that will happen is they will have their wrist smacked and a telling off. Then the do-gooders will step in and say poor little criminals they don't deserve to be punished give them a free holiday to make up for the trauma!!

Thats absolutely terrible,I really do feel for you, I do hope they do catch who ever did it
and do the same to them.B-------ds
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 28.08.06 11:47 UTC
Don't know about hanging :d  But as you say there is very little deterrent and by the sounds of it there's going to be even less shortly. people who shoplift and steal with just get their hands smacked and sent home, no matter  how many times they've done it.  After having my house broken into I now realise why older people die of heartattacks.  I lost nearly 2 stone after my house was broken into in 3 weeks, yes my dog was taken too, so I was doing a lot of walking and searching but I still hate walking out of the door now 4 years later!
- By rachelsetters Date 28.08.06 12:14 UTC
That is one of the saddest evil things I have ever read.  Poor kitkat. :(
- By TrishaH [gb] Date 28.08.06 23:54 UTC
Horrible and so awfully sad.
Poor little thing.
I do often wonder what is inside some of these people who are capable of such dreadful acts of evil & sadistic cruelty.
I do hope that somehow you find out who did that and have the satisfaction of at least exposing them for what they are.

On the other side of the coin - how kind that someone would care enough to take the poor little kitty home to bury him.
- By jazzywoo Date 29.08.06 04:51 UTC
Poor Kitkat :(.  How can anyone be so b****y evil:mad:
- By sara1bee [gb] Date 29.08.06 06:42 UTC
is there any chance some sadist may have found him run over and then strung him up for fun? just thinking he may have been killed by accident?
- By gundogsrbest [gb] Date 29.08.06 12:53 UTC
there is no road where he was found it is all farmland.
i already mentioned that the police were putting a bit in the local rag, and today my boss emailed through to the paper the poster to help catch his killer(s) and she phoned me to say that they arent going to charge for putting it in and they are going to do a story on Kitkat too, i took him to the vets today to be cremated, and informed the vets that he had been found and what had happened, they are going to put up a poster too

Can I just ask what the relevance to pigeon keepers is????
PM me if it isnt something you can put on here.
I am just seriously curious :)

i think margot could be thinking along the lines of pigeon keepers protecting their birds.
We did rehome Tom a ginger cat to a yard at teh end of the lane, he then went and killed a clutch (is that right?) of ducklings, the owner of the ducklings asked the girls on the yard if he belonged to anybody because if he didnt he would shoot him, the girls never admited to owning him but took him home to be a house cat rather than a yard cat and spared his life, we are now doubly glad that they did take him away from the yard as his life may have been spared more than once.

That was what I was thinking she meant but wasnt 100% sure I was right.
