In March I booked some theatre tickets for myself, OH and my 3 daughters to go and see Beauty and the Beast. It was for tomorrow afternoon (my SIL was going to babysit my youngest son as he wouldn't have sat still long enough). I have just looked out the tickets to see how early we needed to get there before curtains up and the tickets were for this evening.
I am sitting here in tears absolutely mortified and I don't know what to do. We kept it a surprise from our daughters until this evening when we told them where we were going. They are only 7 and 5. I have tried ringing the theatre but there was only a security guy and even after I broke down on the phone he couldn't help me and suggested waiting until tomorrows performance to speak to someone. Does anyone know if there is anything I can do?

You poor thing - it's no help to you, but I'll admit to having done the same thing with a transatlantic flight. Can you try to speak to the manager (rather than the box office staff) tomorrow? Maybe if you emphasise how upset your children are going to be they might be able to help you out. The other other thing I can think of is getting up at the crack of dawn to try to get day seats or returns but I guess it was expensive enough buying five tickets in the first place. I do hope they manage to sort something out for you.
Oh Kerri, that is just awful! I would do as Rosemarie has advised and contact the theatre manager, maybe if he can't fit you in tomorrow, he could offer you another date! Good Luck and let us know what happens!

I really don't know why we got the dates wrong. We have been saying for months that we were going on bank holiday sunday as i knew I wouldn't be working on Sundays. I just don't know why we booked them for the Saturday? We have had my SIL booked to babysit since we bought the tickets as well. unfortunately they were very expensive (£160) which we cant afford to pay again. I feel really sick in the stomach at the moment, more because we had told them tonight at bedtime that we're going somewhere really special tomorrow (they've never been anywhere like this before) and when we said what it was their little faces really lit up, especially my youngest who is disney princess mad (i mean, her whole bedroom is decorated out in princesses from floor to ceiling/bedding, pictures, toys - you name it!)
i have just looked at the on-line booking system and there are no spaces available for tomorrows performance but I am going to be on the phone from first thing until someone answers to see if they can do anything.....

Is the theatre even open on Sunday? Most of them aren't...
I would imagine that the box office will be open on a Sunday if there is a performance, even if it is just during the performance! How far is the Theatre away from you? Maybe it would be a good idea if you turned up anyway just on the offchance?

I did the same with tickets for 'We Will Rock You' at the Dominion Theatre in London. I had train tickets booked and a hotel (for the next day). It was when I was packing our case that I looked out the tickets which were for the day before! I felt the same as you; burst into tears and felt sick and frustrated that I could have made such a stupid mistake.
the next day I went to the theatre (in the afternoon) and explained what I had done and showed them the tickets. The manager immediately said that we could stand at the back of the theatre to watch the performance that night but if there were seats, we could take them. We were to arrive at the theatre just before the performance was about to start. Sure enough there were seats, although we had to sit in 2 lots of 2 rather than 4 together. I think we ended up with better seats.
I know just how you feel and totally sympathise. If the theatre isn't too far, just turn up (early) and discuss it with the theatre manager. Good luck! :-)

The theatre is about about an hour and half away unfortunately. I am still trying to get hold of them but apparently they don't do phones until the performance is underway.
We sat our daughters down this morning and explained that we got the date wrong (didn't say we had actually missed it though) and that we would be going later on in the week. OH and I worked out finances etc last night and OH has said that he doesn't want any birthday presents (b/day next week) and to use the money to buy some more tickets for a performance on Thursday (loads of seats left). I worked yesterday when it should have been my day off and am also working bank holiday monday so will have a little extra money spare. I obviously don't really want to do this unless all else fails but I will keep trying so will let you know how i get on.
Even today, I jut don't understand how i got the days AND times wrong (it was actually for the evening when I thought we were going to the afternoon one!) I still feel sick about it and it played over and over in my mind all night. I probably would have said "oh well" but the fact that we told the girls. We weren't going to but they had been so good the last few days as I had been at work a lot more hours than expected and hadn't seen them much :((only for an hour in the mornings and that was it unless they stayed up late till almost 9 for when I got home). So come h*ll or high water i WILL get them there!! :p

Could you go to the theatre early just on the off chance? It would be worth it if they let you in. If not, you can just try and get tickets for later in the week. If there are seats left they may exchange your tickets anyway.
I wonder if there could be a chance that the theatre sent you the wrong tickets? In which case, someone could have turned up last night and used the seats for the tickets you had!.....Just a thought. It just seems strange that you were so positive the tickets were for today :)

Did you order the tickets on the internet? If so did they send confirmation of the tickets when you ordered them via email? I always print of the page when it shows you what you ordered so i have a copy just incase things go wrong. Do you have anything like this stored in your mail box?
Oh dear poor you. What are the reasons you can not go this evening? If working do a sicky, If your SIL can not babysit can you get a neighbour instead? I suggest this as most theatre's especially London theatre's which I'm guessing you are at re: the price are booked so far in advance, it is such short notice to get a refund now too, after all even if they find you another day, they are loosing £160 as some seats will not be used tonight with you not turning up.
I would really try to go or sell them onto a neighbour or friend, and re-book another time.
I hope you can go.
Carrington, the tickets were for last night! :)
Oh no, you are so right, I have looked at this post a day too late:rolleyes:.
I guess there was nothing to be done, what a lot of money to loose. :-(

Hi, sorry but we had a power cut last night and my computer then decided it didn't want to switch back on again til now.
GOOD NEWS!!!! I rang the box office who then put me through to the manager and I explained that what a bl**dy idiot I was and then prompty burst into tears . He umm'd and ahh'd and after putting me on hold for a few minutes, he came back and said that he could offer me tickets for Thursday evenings performance in the same row but not quite the same seats. he would class it as an exchange of tickets so I would get charged their fee which is £1 per ticket!!
I feel soooooo relieved!!! My OH is doing his usual *tutting* and *its all your fault* routine but at least now he will get a birthday present!!! and I have now told the girls that we are definitely going on Thursday :) :)!!! All I have to do is turn up half an hour earlier to sort the tickets/£5 exchange fee out!
Thanks to all of you for helping to calm me down a little!!! :P :P
Kerri, I didn't like to tell you before this but I took my grandchildren to see the show in the Bristol Hippodrome and it was just brilliant! The children loved it and so did we! I am so glad that it is sorted for you, have a lovely time!!

LOL!!!
The girls are so looking forward to it now! Part of the reason we booked it in the first place is because we are going to Disneyland paris middle of September and thought that it would get the girls into the spirit of it before we go!!! I have heard many good reviews about it but I still cant get over how stupid I feel!!! Hopefully it will teach me to check things out earlier in future!!! LOL :D

I'll join in now you have a resolution too. :D We saw it on Broadway because it was the only decent show we could get tickets for. I didn't really fancy it beforehand, but enjoyed it soooooo much I can't tell you. It was fabulous!
Enjoy :D
M.
Kerri, How was the show? Did the girls enjoy it?
Let us know??
