Have come down to a strange thing this morning. (Will obviously be talking to my vet when they open.)

One of my dogs (no idea which one, of course!) has urinated twice in the night. It almost looks as if there is tomato juice in the urine, but slightly more orangey. Doesn't look like blood, but that's all I can imagine it is. Where she's wee'd on the lino and it's been cleaned, the lino is stained a very definite pink.

I am assuming it's the dog I took yesterday for recurrent mild gastric bouts. The vet gave her synulox, tagamet and antepsin.

Does anyone have any experience of this or clues?

Right, took the bed up to the nurse and the vet thinks there's no way in the world she's wee'd it, it's vomit - probably just because she has been starved for 24 hours, so is having the drugs on an empty stomach. (That would explain the Synulox pink lino LOL.)

So, Daisy's had breakfast, and fingers crossed that's all it is.

Thanks Val. Have to say, there was so much fluid both on lino and stained bed, didn't look like it could possibly be vomit to me, but she's sure.

Roll on getting the building work done and getting a tiled floor. Have a new puppy, who has been virtually faultless on housetraining - but due to the 4 year old I now have a leopardskin dining room carpet and a kitchen floor with a pink patch.

If anyone has any tips for getting bile stains out of carpets ...

Does it seem right to vomit so much fluid on an empty stomach rather than a bit of yellow (coloured with pink synulox) bile?

What sort of carpet?  In Thatcham I had beige 'piddleproof' carpet down for 9 years when I first moved in.  I used to wash puppy piddles with bleach! :)

This was my confusion. If Lil's hungry, she will bring up yellow bile. However, I guess the tablets will make a difference? She is very well in herself - no temperature, good colour, lively - and was definitely hungry (nothing new there), so will see how it goes.

Sort of pale green carpet, probably wool. (Here when we bought the house.) Might try bleaching it later, on the grounds that pale patches will look better than yellow ones. It will only be here for another 6 months until extension and conservatory are built, so as long as it's clean and unsmelly, I can live with the patches.

I'd possibly try bio washing stuff before bleach on wool carpet.  Bleach will definitely take out the colour! :(  Might be worth considering 'piddleproof' when you come to replace??

I was thinking of dining room carpet.  I dooooo love my tiles in my living room.  Everyone said that they'd be cold but I luv 'em! :)
