Are you able to set up a bank account abroad?  At some point I want to buy property in Spain, can't afford it at the moment though!  Is there any way that you can set up an account if you are not actually living in a country?

You can ask your bank here to help.  Don't know who you are with but Lloyds look very helpful.

Ask your current bank - many have branches abroad :)

I dont know about spain but I contacted HSBC in malta for accounts, mortgages - they did everything. 

We have a property in Greece and HSBC let us do everything we need to!!! We do have an account at the Greek Bank too...but the lady that dealt with the house purchase helped us to open it! I believe you may need to live there to open a Spanish account?? All the best, Dawn

I used to know someone who only recently bought a place over in Spain and have had a bank account for a few years over there so hopefully it can be done.  Just thinking ahead and feel that it would be more handy to already have some money in the country!

Asked my Spanish friend as he knows a bank manager in Spain to find out for me, so fingers crossed :d
