Earlier in the year I rec'd a pack asking me to swab 3 of my dogs and to send them off.  It said that I would get a report etc. but so far I've not heard a thing!  Did anybody else doi it and did you get any feedback?

I received a pack July last year.  Still haven't heard a thing, they did say they would send a report on the project to everyone that helped with this study.

yes we done the D.N.A samples for the predisposition test for CHD and havent heard anything yet but was told as soon as they had compiled everything and designed the test etc etc we would be told the outcome. I aske dthem why we had been approached and they said that our lab had exceptionall hip score of 0/0 so they were going to compare very low hip scored dogs/bitches with very high hip scores to see if there was a a significant reason why some do  and some dont get CHD

Has anybody asked the lab when a report might be expected?  Some of these research projects are quite protracted.  What are you expecting to receive, a report on your individual dog or a report on a collective study?

Actually just re-read the paperwork and it is only a study and by the looks of it won't be breed orientated but more to see how closely related certain breeds are together.  It is also being done in the USA.  Hopefuly when the time comes it will be of interest.  I just wish that we could DNA all of our dogs and ensure that certain problems are irradicated but I presume that I won't get to see this in my life time?

Nope. Got the kit last summer and sent it off, but no response yet.

When I rec'd our pups registration papers last week it said that details are going to be given out later on this year and that they are still wanting any rare breeds to get involved.  They hve analysed 7,000 dogs so far.  If those of rarer breeds are able to help out they should contact Paul.Jones@mss.effem.com
