Hi there
A couple of weeks a neighbour gave me a large amount of frozen steak, which he said was too tough for him but perhaps my dogs would like it. Looked great. I thought I would defrost it and try giving it my 2 GSD`s raw. The 8 yr old scoffed it down, mind you she would eat for England given half a chance...but my younger 15month old would not touch it, I tried feeding it by hand, but he spat it out in disgust. When he was younger I used to give him chicken wings, which he liked until a bit of bone got stuck in the roof of his mouth. Since then he has been fed on dry food. I have tried other raw meets all of which he turns his nose up at and appears would rather starve than eat it. By the way I cooked the steak for him and it disappeared in no time. Is this unusual for dogs not to want to eat raw meat? or am I doing something wrong..
Hi
I feed a raw diet and I think that some dogs just find the texture of raw meat unpleasant and also prefer the smell of it cooked. My lot really don't like raw liver but love it cooked. It took ages to get one of my boys to eat chicken wings and he still won't eat turkey necks but the others love them.

My youngest dog does that too, but then none of mine are particularly food orientated. He does eat chicken wings but will spit out chunks of beef unless cooked.

If I ever get meat that is too tough for my dogs, I give it to my husband:)

My older dog rolled on the first raw meat I gave him years ago :D He's only eaten raw for nearly 7 years now, except for liver which has to be put in the blender. If I give it to him without being blended, he rolls on it :D
