a lady in our village had a mare that is one month ourerdue to foal. (12 months since mating) is this acceptable or should she be worried?? She didnt seem very bothered when I spoke to her and said she may ring the Vet on Tuesday,

I know of a few that have gone over a month with the unpredictable weather etc. I'd prob get the vet to check her over but everything seems to have taken a while this time - inclufing getting them infoal in the first place :)

My fateher has bred Welsh Cobs for the last 55 years mares will foal anytime from 10-13 months ,he only gets worried if the mare has a temp or unwell in herself,as long as he can see the foal moving and mare is well he leaves them to it
Definitely common. We're eagerly awaiting the arrival of a Suffolk Punch foal at the moment, 12 months on there's no sign Mum is ready to deliver just yet .... :-)
