Everyone going to the SKC this weekend, i hope you have a succesful weekend. There isnt a lot entered in my breed, which is a real shame, but never mind. I also hope the weather stays fair, and also that it isnt too hot for our dogs.

Hi Pam, dont panic, start off by taking a deep breath, or an even deeper drink of something strong (!!!) and then try and relax and get a good nights sleep. Remember it is meant to be enjoyable, or why would we do it? We have always found that keeping any white coated dog clean at SKC is a bit of a losing battle, bearing in mind the red colour of the car parks (and even worse if it is raining - bright red mud!) Are you taking a trolley? If so take the Westies in in there cages to minimise dirtying from the car park. Always plenty of talc/chalk flying around the westie ring (although I am sure it is all WELL BRUSHED OUT!!! :) before going into the ring). Hope you have a great day, might even bump into you, though not sure how we would recognise each other. Looking forward to hearing all the results from everone.

LOL Gwen You would notcie me a mile away... I will be the one shaking like an idiot and tripping up etc..

Just finished packing my grooming bag..Boy did I pick the best breed.

I have a grooming trolley so the will get kept in their boxes etc.. Cathitar ( Spelling ??) for them to pee from.

I am in MPD and JB asheridgelee is my affix.. Although I am only showing the MPD as my freind is showing my bitch for me. Once in the ring is enough for me..LOL

Hope you have a nice day. Fingers crossed not too wet nor to hot..

Pam

Good luck, and you will be fine...the first one is always the worst...(sound like a pro don't I !! :D) (Oh as in professional !! :D)., I was really nervous at my first "open" show, and thought I was going to be sick in the ring...ended up getting reserve in the group !! I think the judge felt sorry for me !!

So good luck and let me know how you get on..

- By dizzy [gb] Date 24.08.02 18:16 UTC
yes ,how did you do and did you enjoy it,
- By pamela Reidie [gb] Date 24.08.02 18:42 UTC
HI all thanks for asking. It went good and bad..

I was there nice and early but was a bit confused about somethings anyway.. We were told ring 22 and we should have been 21 and where we were set up I could see what I thought was the ring..anyway cut a long story shorter I nearly missed my MPD class and had to run in after most had be looked at etc..Dropped my poor pup and then it went from worse to worse. He would not stand..I had no number...LOL I was completly out of breath when I got in the ring. I wished I had not went in.

Anyway there were 5 he got 5th.

Irene had a wee dog in that got 3rd out of 5.

I never did my wee dog justice and I think or felt the judge may have been a bit cross with me understandably She probably thought I had just arrived.

My wee btich got 4th out of 5 I was quite happy with that she was the youngest in her group as she just turned 1 last week.

I was so nervous I feel I ruined it for my dogs..but I will learn and I will keep going.

My breeder of my puppy dog helped my out with my bitch's head which I thought was good as she never had anything to do with her breeding , they also made my freind and I feel quite welcome and we did have a laugh.

I went and it is a start I never went with too big hopes of doing well mostly due to me not the dogs.

Speak to you all later..

Pam
- By Val [gb] Date 24.08.02 18:46 UTC
Well done Pam. You did it and survived!! You made some contacts and it will get better - promise. :D
- By pamela Reidie [gb] Date 24.08.02 19:36 UTC
Thanks Val ,

You Know I have a professional Job and am not a nervous person usually but boy am I making up for it but I am not giving up and will hopefully get better..

I have put in a lot of weight also and am very concious of that so will need to target this also.

All fun though.

BFN

sounds like a fairly normal first time to me :D ,although ive not ever dropped one yet, ---but then they where too heavy to pick up
- By Cava14Una Date 24.08.02 19:15 UTC
Hi Pam,
That sounds like my first show with one of my Boxers, his breeder had run him on with his brother so I new he was quite good. At his first show I was so nervous, shaking, pouring with sweat, we went into the ring and poor Tel must have picked up my nerves. He had the most horrendous windy diahhorea all over the floor and it was an indoor show embarrassed was not the word for it. Can't remember how we did all a bit of a blur
Anne
PS He was too big to pick up so at least I couldn't drop him
- By dot [gb] Date 23.08.02 19:59 UTC
Linda,
I don't show nowadays but I enter Toby (tibetan Terrier) as NFC so I can take him in so he'll be with me and we'll be mostly watching the Tibetan terriers.

Well I never got to meet anyone today :-( By the time I had finished showing it was time to grab lunch then go work in the office so sorry I missed you Pam and Irene. I was watching the gundog group so Gwen I could well have been standing next to you and not known it..........LOL

We got 2nd out of 6 in Post Grad Dog so I was very pleased with that. It is only our second Post Grad class as he's only 18½ mths old. The ring was a nightmare, so waterlogged and slippy I'm surprised no one fell. At least the rain kept off which mean't the carpark wasn't as messy as I've seen it in the past!
- By pamela Reidie [gb] Date 24.08.02 19:34 UTC
Thanks all,

Anne are you still a boxer woman,,I love them.. I had a Bitch for a few years infact still own her and my freind now keeps her on her farm with her other 2 boxers.

I was going to get her back but she has been with her a while and she loves it up there.

My hubby and I did talk about it recently getting another but will wait till the time is right and not this year.

Pam,
No I have Beardies now similar nature everlasting pups but more coat. I changed purely by accident was given my first Beardie by a friend and found I liked the Beardie working scene, as opposed to Boxers where I was only one who worked my dogs. I used to do Beardie tests with my Boxers and just transfered over Anne
- By gwen [gb] Date 25.08.02 21:33 UTC
Hi Claire - You would know if you were standing next to us by the deafening cheers, whooping and clapping at the result!

Pam, now that you have made your debut, next time should go like a dream! Didn't make it to the terrier rings at all - we were just whizzing between the breed ring and the stakes ring - we were meant to be in 2nd after cockers, and they went on for quite a while - eventually given an empty ring so we werent still being judged at midnight:)
