Are old Irish notes worth anything if you take them to the bank or do you get nothing for them?  Found a few from when I went to Ireland before the euro came into being. I presume unfortunately that they are worthless????

Not sure about Irish notes but a friend found some old pound notes ( pre-decimal) when he was clearing out his late mother's house and the bank exchanged them for current currency. This was 5 years ago so not sure if it is the same now but worth a try.

Irish notes were not worth the same as the British ones when they were in circulation being the 'Punt' not the pound if I remember rightly!

NO they are definitely pounds and it's quite a lot of money actually   I know that my mum found some old £5 notes a couple of years ago and the bank exchanged them.  I could do with the money really :d :d

As I was saying though, I think that one Irish pound (punt) was worth only about 78p in English money!

Yeah but when it's over a £100 it's worth it :d  Oh thanks for the website it says that Central Bank will exchange them indefinitely so I presume that I could still exchange them :d  Or I hope so anyway!

Yes but remember the saying "look after the pennies and the punts will look after themselves" :)
