Not at all stupid and no, you're not the only one. My older Cocker boy LOVEs the wet and makes a bee-line for any puddle and will NOT come in out of the rain - just goes splashing about even moref - lol:D
Some dogs do hate water - but in my experience - not many!!

To echo Pam, you are absolutely not the only one. Dylan my lab loves water - sea, lakes, rivers, puddles, rain, paddling pools, hose pipes even the BATH - and I love to watch him in the water, cos you can tell he is having a really great time :) Every morning we meet a lady with a springer and a field spaniel, and they too are always wet through, having rolled ans splashed in whatever water they can find :)

You are NOT the only one !!! :D
I have two cockers, the older one is very much a "lady", doesn't like getting dirty or wet ... the younger one is a "complete tom boy", if there is mud, water, dirty puddle, she is there..she lies in it and refuses to move :D
Even if we have had some frost or dew overnight, and we go for a walk, one minute she will be walking quite happily, the next you are dragging this cocker puppy along the floor (literally) she will be lying down and rolling in the wet grass....
Dogs eh?? :D :D
Wouldn't swap 'em for the world...

Are you noticing a pattern here folks! We are talking Gundogs here, specifically Spaniels. :D
Now my Norwegian Elkhounds will do most anything to avoid getting wet, except miss a walk, and have been known to keep their legs crossed for a very long time, if it is raining!

lol @ Barbara - trust you to notice :D
One of the best dogs I've ever seen in water though - she quickly says jumping to the defence of our rather stupid group:D - was a Cairn Terrier that my folks had. She was like an otter in the water - really fantastic to watch - bless. You threw a small stone into a river - she would jump in and pull a dirty great boulder out - you'd get air bubbles coming out of her nose - the works - she loved it.
As for Elkhounds - so they hate the rain - and yet if you rememebr that piccy we had last christmas of them all inside an elk's carcass -- yuuuuuuuuuck - I think I'd rather have the rain dog anyday - lol:D

I think the Dog in Elk story was actually Basenjis. It made me laugh so!

This is so funny.Lots of wet doggies.
My black chow used to dig his feet in.There was no way he would go out in the rain.
It was funny when we went to shows.I knew he had no chance if the grass was wet.He used to walk as if he was on hot cinders. There was no way you could see his movement.People used to just laugh at him.
It was better than winning he fetched laughter all round the ring.LOL
