My 2 yorkies have been to the groomers today. This is Tiegans third visit. Jake who is only 8 mths old went for the first time. He was fine before they went but since they came back he is acting as if she is in season. When I picked them up the groomer said she had to separate them but I didn't take much notice. He is trying to mount her and crying all the time and she is getting very cross and is attacking him. It is so bad I have had to separate them at home. She isn't in season and not even anywhere near time or showing any signs and as I say before they went he wasn't behaving like this. I hoped it would settle but they have been home a good few hours now and he is no better. Help!!!

It will wear off soon......she smells like a different girl to him, and he finds it confusing. When I bath my afghan bitch, my boy affie gets very "excited", but it soon wears off when she starts to smell like her grubby self :)

Lol! Thanks for your reply. Yes he has settled more now. Phew. Must remember this for next trip to groomers. Is there anything I can do to stop it of make it less of a problem.

I think it is jut one product that your dog is reacting to.  The reason I say this is my lad was the same with Tara but only when she one to one specific groomers.  He is fine after she had been to a couple of other places.  But as said it wears off quite quickly.

My pekes always show more interest in the peke that has just had a bath, even the other girls with the bathed girls. They sniff round them, and can even get a little aggressive with the newly bathed peke, although this is rare.
I always keep them seperate for a while after a bath, and like already mentioned it does wear off.

I've often heard of this happening. If they were my dogs I'd ask what products the groomers used and suggest they used something else. Even better, of course, is to groom them yourself (it's much more satisfying, and very good for bonding and strengthening your relationship) and avoid it happening again. :)

If he hasn't calmed down by now you may well have to bath her yourself in a mild shampoo to get rid of the smell that's winding him up.

Peace has returned!!! Thank goodness. They have been playing together and it is back to normal. He has just taken himself off to bed. It could have been worse, my other dog could have joined in, but I'm not sure he was impressed with them when they came home. He sniffed them and backed away with a look of " what have you done, you smell awful." Thanks for all your replies.
