We have recently moved to a house with a large garden, so plenty of room for the dogs to run around in compared to our pocket handkerchief garden we had before.  However, despite not really showing any inclination for digging in the past, they now seem intent on trying to tunnel their way to the earths core   I initially thought it was just one of the Danes doing it, but I have now caught all 5 of them at it at various times over the last few days.  They always dig in the same part of the garden - the part closest to the house so it is very visable, but leave the rest of the garden behind the outbuildings and stable alone :rolleyes:  Any ideas on how to stop them?

We moved into our house 5 yeras ago.There was over half an acre of good garden and our GSPs were digging like mad. we fenced a 3rd of it off just for them and now there is no turf left and tunnels like the channel tunnel. It looks like a war zone. We allow them in the good garden when we are with them but the minute our back is turned they are digging again. I think it is really hard to stop though my hubbie has sometimes buried their poo in some of the bigger holes near the perimeter fence and that does seem to deter them from that area but they just go elsewhere :rolleyes:

I think we will have to go down the route of fencing off some of the garden for them.  Burying poo wouldn't deter the Danes at all - they think it is a tasty snack if they come across any I have missed on my sweep of the garden   They would think I had invented a new game just for them - bury the poo for them to dig up and eat at their leisure :D  :D  :D

The best way may be to provide them with a digging pit of their own and bury things in it like toys etc...if you train them to use it, they should (hopefully!) avoid the rest of your garden...:D
