Hi Folks,

I think this might be a US food, does anyone know if I can get it in the UK?
- By Ktee [us] Date 08.08.06 20:41 UTC Edited 08.08.06 20:44 UTC
No :( But you can order it in. Apparantly people would refuse to pay the price if it was available here!

My BIL has just started a new job which entails a trip to the US every 3mths. I'm going to get him to do my dog food shopping whlist he's over there.EVO and Timberwolforganics are 2 on my shortlist.

I know! This is where my plan has come to a halt ;) I was thinking an extra suitcase perhaps :) He's all for it,as he and my sister are as food em,er obsessed  as me :D My problem will be knowing when to stop, i think i could fill 10 suitcases full of foods supplements and all the other goodies the pet owners have at their disposal in the US.

I had a link for a UK supplier here Spender - will try and find it for you.  They bring in Eagle Pack as well.   I think, from memory, it worked out at about £75 .....
Will get back to you ;)

Me again :D

I can't see Evo on the link I've found but you could try http://www.postalpetsproducts.co.uk/shop/ as they may be able to help you.  They're pretty good IMO and if there is an interest in a particular food I don't see why they won't check it out for you.

I sometimes think it would be beneficial if a few (quite a few realistically) food aware members got together to see about broadening the availability of these better US diets - I genuinely believe there is a market for them :)

Hope this helps meantime - the search for the missing link continues  :D

You lucky thing Ktee... :-) I've heard good reports about Evo.  US peeps rave about it, high protein, low carb diet

Thanks for the link Teri; I would have thought if they could import Eaglepack, then they may be able to do Evo.  I'll ring them tomorrow.

I do think there is a market over here for the better US foods too. Teri.  It's got to the stage now that when I read a dog food label in the shops over here, it's not good enough IMO.  I could always feed a home diet but I'm just not confident enough yet ref vit's, minerals etc although they do get human food as well as dog food.

The more enquiries, it might prompt someone to import.  In fact if I had some more time on my hands, I'd be temped to start up a little business.   :-D

Please remember we have got a planet to save  so do try to import a franchise not the actual product won't you :)
- By Teri Date 08.08.06 23:18 UTC
I've lost confidence in most foods and those that I think are of good quality insofar as ingedients and % of meat etc have yet to provide one that suits each of my dogs equally

I've now gone down the home diet route and immediately got the thumbs up from the dogs on palatabilty :D  Plus within a very short space of time I've had good weight put on a weedy youngster and great improvement in coats and overall condition so I reckon I'm hooked - the dogs took FAR less persuading!

It is a daunting prospect as there are some weird and wonderful articles, links & books around that make it sound so complicated & fiddly that it's easy to see why some folks don't want to make the leap :(   Now that I've seen such amazing results and have fortunately been mentored by a no-nonsense, highly ingredient savvy BARFER with 15 years or thereabouts success on this regime I realise that it's not in reality anything like as complicated as we're often led to believe!

regards, Teri :)

My friend and i are seriously considering opening up some kind of pet supplies business which will give us the opportunity to import pet foods such as this in from the US.Ofcourse we are still in the dreamin' stage...The pets of the UK are literally dying for better foods!
- By kite1st [gb] Date 15.08.06 05:21 UTC
wow, i never seen a food with such high protein, if enough of us write to the company involved explaining our lack of acceptable diets im sure they would think strongly into importing it to one of our large distributors, worth a try
- By Ktee [us] Date 15.08.06 13:04 UTC

>if enough of us write to the company involved <

I've already done this, and the reply was that we have to find a distributor willing to distribute it over here and go from there. But like you said,if enough of us e-mail them perhaps they may take it into their own hands??

>The pets of the UK are literally dying for better foods!

Hardly :)  The studies show that pets here in the UK have a life expectancies as good as it has every been.
If you do feel the need to supply food of a recipe marketed elsewhere can't you just import the franchise rather than the food.  We do have a planet to save even if our animals are thriving at present.
