Can anyone offer advice - point me to information regarding planning permission? We've taken down an old wooden garage in our garden and want to install a new, slightly smaller one - but closer to our garden boundry than the current one.
I'm waiting to hear from my local council......
Just wondered if anyone had any experience/knowledge in this area?
Different rules apply nationally. In my experience planning officers are very helpful in answering general queries such as "is permission necessary?" for a project and even give a good idea as to what would be acceptable before putting in an application. They will even visit the site and all for no charge! :)
That is what we are doing with our proposed new extension :)
We are sending them drawings (our own) with as much detail verbally to get their 'opinion' ( not legally binding ) if it is ok and would in theory get PP and whether is does actually need PP :)
We are also having our lovely builder round next week to get his opinion as well and an idea on cost to see if it is worth doing it :)
We didnt need planning permission to replace our exsisting garage and we extended the base to make it longer. We had an old abestos one that pracitcally fell down and was advised as its not an permament building we didnt need it. Think you have to apply if not already got an exsisting garage or moving it a considerable distance from where it is currently based. Obvisbly all areas are different this is our experience.
