Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / What a good dog I have!
- By MW184 [gb] Date 01.08.06 13:05 UTC
As I have posted so many times about my dogs behaviour that concerns me - thought I would post his good behaviour today.  This morning he went for a walk and came across a dog that he was very aggressive towards about a week and a half ago, today he was told to sit and let the dog pass him - he sat and no barking or lunging!  Also the childminder has gone in again today  to check he's okay (minus husband and daughter)  - he barked when she put the key in the lock but once she opened the door he looked at her and went back to sleep - she opened the pet gate to let him out of the kitchen it took him 5 minutes to build up the energy to move!  So I just wanted to share it with you all  - the positive results of all the good advice put into practice.  (NB obviously I realise I still need to be careful with the strangers thing).  Hope you're all having a good day, Maxine.

How nice - I think we all forget too often about their "good bits" :D  Thanks for sharing Maxine.

its true, its very easy to focus on the negative, sometimes when I read bad things like a dog getting really ill or cruelty etc etc etc, i suddenly realise how stupid i am for focusing on a small part of my dogs personality which isnt "completely perfect".

Isnt it great when you see progress...

Im also sometimes guilty of not noticing the things that are improving and focusing on the work we still need to do! Thanks for sharing!

I often get comments like 'oh she's ever so good isn't see' and previously when training was going, to say it lightly, not so well I'd be looking at them thinking 'are you talking about my dog'

I now look at her nuttier, less attentive moments with less of a worry that we're failing training, but with a acceptence that she's brilliant in other areas at other times....

Same here fluff, twice last week I got comments on how well behaved mine were - I had that "my dogs? really?" moment too, it was lovely :D

It makes me pay more attention to the good stuff.  So much lately I've been focusing on Remy's bad leash walking - the times when he starts to speed up ahead or pull me to a lamppost - that I've been ignoring the much more prevlanet good walking - I have to remind myself how he was just a few months ago to see how much better he is.

Well done MW, keep up the good work :D
