does anybody know where i can get avairy panels or a complete avairy, and preferably a company that will deliver, im looking to put my indian ringneck and cockateil outside in an avairy.
also would finches and canaries be ok to put in the avairy along with Ollie and Joey. and while im enquiring about birds i did have a link to a site that had 100s of different parrot toys i cant think for the life of me what it was, if anyone knows of any good links for parrot toys that would be great, it is getting harder and harder to find decent priced parrot toys many shops now have a very poor selection and the few toys that they do have are extremely over priced

thanks

you need to research further. a friend of mine bought an aviary and her parrot wouldnt go in it, it just held onto the bars and screamed! you make be able to mix finches with cockatiel but im not sure if the size diffence is too great

Finches and canaries must NEVER, EVER be kept with any kind of hook beaked bird - cockatiels, ringnecks, anything like that.  The hooks are just too aggressive - there are many, many cases of finches being killed or having toes etc bitten off - it's just a bad idea!

And aviary panels - check Ebay, there's some on there at the moment, also some decent complete aviaries as well.  Freeads too, just be careful - when my Dad (who is clueless about birds) bought me an aviary years ago, it was ruddy useless, I had to modify quite a few things to make it better.  Of course, why he bought a tall, perching-bird type aviary for big, ground-dwelling quails is beyond me... :D

what birds would be ideal to put in with joey and ollie, the size i want is roughly a 4ftx6ft flight with a 6ftx3ft hut (have hut already its the flight panels im having problems with) so with an avairy of this size they would look a bit lost, they both originally came from an avairy, i bought Ollie the ringneck as a christmas pressie for my mum 3 years ago, i bought him in the october so he was settled by the time xmas arrived, he started to talk and immitate the phone until Billy the african Grey came along he then stopped talking, joey was bought about a year ago as company for Ollie, although fine in their cage i feel they would find it much better outside,

More of the same - I won't name anything definite as I know more about finches and quails!  I'm sure there's a cockatiel club site or something similar or a ringneck club, I've no doubt they'd have some suggestions.  Other cockatiels or ringnecks would prolly be the obvious choice - but I don't know how their territory or heirarchy works, so definitely find a club and talk to them.

You can mix some parrot like with Canaries and foreign finch but have to be very selective.
Birds like Bourkes and Turquisines are usually OK unless they have young in the nest. It is often the smaller birds antagonising the larger that causes the problem. But, as a general premis, don't mix parrotlike and finches - definitely dont keep budgies. You also may have problems mixing different types of finch as there can be teritrorial (?SP) disputes.

As for aviary's I usually make my own starting with a well cobstructed shed/hut and using that for the housing / feeding and running flights off through the windows. Many small (independent) 'shed' companies will build to your own specifications and will produce panels suitable for your needs. Or try http://www.bransby-bunny.co.uk/

A major problem with larger parrot like is they will chew the wood of any aviary and it is recommended that flights are double skinned with high quality wire to try to prevent them attacking birds in adjoining aviaries and/or escaping.

well i received my catalogue from grange pet centre today (thank you gold mali) ive picked out the flight that i want and tomorrow ill order it (hopefully) :) so i hope to have the birds in their avairy before winter, hopefully before september is out.
ive looked at a few of the different smaller parrots and parakeets, and seen i few i would like to put in the avairy, love birds being one type. i dont really like budgies so i would prefer not to have them in the avairy. Would quails be ok? i want quails to help keep the bottom clear, if it would be ok which is better the japanese or chinese? on the foreign finch front would zebras be ok? ive had zebras before but tess my lab wanted to have her pups were the cage was and ate the birds while i was out  and as im asking lots of questions can anyone recommend any good reading :D

thanks

My advice, fop=r what its worth :D , is please dont mix Lovebirds with any other type of bird you may be OK with the quail but definitely not small finches or canaries in fact anything other than more of the same species of lovebird eg Peach-Faced masked or fischers etc.
Lovebirds can be very aggresive even towards others of the same species.
