Suppose you've already gone but if not go and say hi to Faye, she's been down there since Thursday with the SPanish.

yup, we went thurday/friday/sat....camped....huge fun with feisty terrier pup!!! Spent way too much money even though i was only there to work:confused:  not sure how that happened.
what was everyones thoughts on the chap including a 9 week old spaniel pup in his main ring display:mad:  sorry but i was appalled, & i dont care how well known he is! Was generally annoyed with all the people dragging tiny pups around in scalding heat all day with no thought to their welfare. , and dont get me started on the awfu falconry display:eek:Otherwise very good

well had a great time there today spend to much again but it was on things i needed.
lots of dogs beening dragged around in 23c weather. mine all stayed at home and were walked at 5 am this morning before we went.

guess how much two coffees and 3 cokes were.????? but i shouldnt moan we got in free to the game fair.

yes diane i did catch up with faye it was nice to see her.there may be some news on what group in the gundog breed we may be put in.??????like the brown dog she had there breed bye lynn.

it wasnt as busy with people today and we sailed out on the roads home no traffic

I went today and ended up coming home early. It was odd, the entry price was much more than I thought at £18 and we were lucky OH as a mature student got in for just £5!!! So that was good.

Trade stands etc were marred a bit for me as I saw one selling electric collars so that kind of annoyed me :D

I also felt the show is just too big and too crazy - it's like being in the middle of a London high street at times, I know I should have expected it but maybe I'm getting less tolerant. Yep, far too many dogs being dragged around and owners losing their tempers due to owner stress and telling dogs off for doing nothing. Once I start seeing that, the day loses it's fun for me.

I didn't see much going on at the horse end which i loved a few years ago - I just seemed to aimlessly walk up and down rows of trade stands and spent some time watching the carriage driving in the main ring which was good

Maybe it was me, I just didn't enjoy it as much as I have done.

I can't imagine a very young puppy in a display, what was that all about? Sounds not very good!

i think it was 9 month we went pass when he stated the pup age a black cocker sp bitch
- By sam Date 31.07.06 07:24 UTC
briedog, if its my comment you are referring to....this was def 9 WEEKS not months!! It was tiny & he was showing in the main ring and the gundog display in gundog aREA, how he starts training a tiny puppy from day 1. Very cute but not the place for a 9 week old pup in my opinion:mad:

>and dont get me started on the awfu falconry display<

Sam...it cant surely have been as bad as (now Im going back a few years..) But do you remeber 'Salad bin'???? ;) ROFL...think he was called 'Saladim' or something with his falcons and horses and flowing tea towels!!!!
As a child I loved him!! my poor Father (who at the time was an Inspector of the Enviroment for the British Falconry society) would die with embarassment as I dragged him through the crowds to get a front seat view!!! :D
- By briedog [gb] Date 31.07.06 10:17 UTC
yes there where all different ages from 9 weeks upward as my husband stated to me,but the trainer it a every skilled person.showing what you can get out of your puppy and different ages.

please do not shout that me with capital letters in your post to me.sam.
- By sam Date 31.07.06 15:45 UTC
wasnt shouting....emphasising weeks not months:rolleyes:
I dont care how "skilled" he is....it wont keep his puppy safe from infections at this early tender age:mad:

Couldn't go this year had to work.... :-(
- By jackyjat [gb] Date 30.07.06 19:48 UTC
This is the first year for 8yrs that I haven't been  and I am very sad about it but we are off on hols on Wednesday and I know how much money I usually spend.  We always camp over and have a fantastic time.  It has been typical game fair weather too.
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 30.07.06 20:13 UTC
Ohh, that would be good!!  Shame that they don't have a water group as they do in Europe :d

Yes Caprito is wonderful, quite a character I can tell you, but a lovely looking boy!
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 30.07.06 20:14 UTC
Unfortunately I think that he may do north west game fairs too, as I've seen this before and was quite shocked by it!  I just couldn't take the risk.
- By HuskyGal Date 30.07.06 22:26 UTC

lucy, its advertised every year in all the fieldsports press for months on end, plus being sponsored bt the D/Telegraph it gets plenty of publicity in there as well. its a bit of a religious ritual for fieldsports folk:cool:....its like saying "whens xmas, i didnt see it advertised":cool: Its at Harewood (up North!) next year! come join us.

Had a great time this year. Went last year to meet up with fellow sm munster owners but thought this year was definately better, more organised, the layout was better. I did the pavillion and both parades with my girl (15 months) ....she loved all the attention in the pavillion and seemed quite relaxed about the whole thing. Only spent about 20 on dummies, rabbit hide and show lead set...nearly had to buy a decoy pigeon when the dog stalked one then wacked it with her paw.

Traffic wasnt too bad on Saturday, took the back roads from Newbury and no probs getting out on the night.

Will go again next year - only a 2hr drive up to Harewood and may then be ready to take on the Have-A-Go novice scurry!

Lucy the Game Fair is an annual event that happens the same time (ish) every year over a handful of rotating venues.  It's even at Blenheim every few years (was 2 yrs ago).

Perhaps next year at Harewood we ought to have a Champdogs Camp!

For those of us who missed out on the CLA, perhaps a trip to the Midland in September would make up for it.
