hello everyone
  as i am currently researching whether or not to breed my pups in the future and my mum thought it would be good practise if i actually saw what was involved in whelping so 5 weeks ago my mum and cissy came to stay and i took over all duties ie extra feeding , scanning and health checks . so far so good .
last sunday cissy was 56 days gone so we started taking her temp  3 times a day and was always round the 37.7 point till wednesday when her temp went to 38 , it then went back to normal , then on thursday it stayed 37.7 and at midnight dropped to 36.9 .
today it is back up to 37.3 and she is happy in herself but for past couple of days has been off her food but will eat treats and weetabix made with welpi milk sometimes .
although my mum is on hand to give advice and i have read all books i have and the internet i dont think it quite prepares you for the real thing so i thought while mums at shop i would ask your advice .
is cissy in labour , am i in a panic for nothing or should i phone the vet

The week before my girl was due I began to take her temperature . It was up and down like a yo yo I felt she was in slow labour and eventually had her pups the day before her due date.
I think in future I wouldnt bother there are other signs which I felt were much more obvious... to my girl anyway.
Although I am a novice and was given tons of very helpful advice from girls on here (thank you soooo much) ..digging , verrrry clingy (sitting on my lap ) and the pain in her eyes I knew she was near.
She didnt refuse food either ..I imagine they are all slightly different just keep close and watch her as my girl had her first while lying next to my OH on the guest bed!

I think I would be concerned that the bitch doesnt want to be in a strange place - at this time she needs familiar surrounds and security.

our house is familiar as i watch her while mums at work , my mum and cissy have been staying here for a month and they have their own room at the back of the house so i dont think its that . my mum is still here and sayes cissy was like this 18 mths ago when she had a litter . thankyou for the concern tho fillis , mum adores her dogs and would never stress her out .
cissy has now started following my OH  everywhere and panting quite hard so it could be happening tonight . OH and cissy are in her room so we will see what happens .

Hope all goes well, and well done to your mum for moving in for so long, so that you can really experience what it's like - wish someone could do that with me, I'm still considering whether or not to mate Ellie. :-)
