Just after a bit of advice please :)

One of my male pups has got what I suspect is a bad case of puppy spots - his owners never told me about it at first and it was not until the vet had him in to take 'samples' from him due to the severity of the spots that I was made aware.

It turns out the spots are getting no better and the biopsies showed nothing therefore the vets are still unsure what is causing the rash - he is happy within himself but just red raw underneath on his belly the poor lad :( 

I have suggested that it may be worth changing his food (Against my advice they put him on Science plan anyway) as I wonder if he is having a reaction to it as when he is on steroids the rash clears up....does anyone have any tips or ideas of what could be making this so bad for the poor fella?

I'd ask about the environment.  What are they washing his bedding in?  Do they use Shake'n'Vac etc?

Hhhhm - funny because when his litter sister visited him she came out in a nasty eye infection where by her eye completely closed up - it all cleared up when she came home?  They do live in the country in a HUGE house with loads of places for the dogs to roam!

I will ask re bedding.

Could this be a case of 'puppy acne'

When one of my girls was small she got mucky spots in her ears.  The vet said it was puppy acne and it would clear up in time, which it did.  I like to think this was her spotty teenage period.

Yeah I think that's what it is, but a very very bad case as I have had it with most of my dogs but it clears up - this is app red raw!

My youngest had 'puppy acne' all over her belly :P  It cleared up ok though I can't remember whether she was given anything by the vet for it :)
