Just getting some washing in when I felt a sharp  sting just inside my arm. After a bit of 'cussing' saw a bee on the floor, looks like a small honey bee. There is an area around it now that is starting to swell and is red with a white lump in the centre. But I though bees always left a sting, but I am pretty sure there is no sting in there, just a pin prick hole (like a wasp would do) But it is definitely a bee that did it. Can a bee sting and not leave it in? It hurts :(

Yes sometimes bees can sting and not leave the sting.  If you're very brave and don't instantly react they can also 'unscrew' the sting and fly away (seen that on tv )   If it's hurting try putting some bicarb on it, made into a paste. (bicarb for bee stings, vinegar for vasps ;) )

I reckon that is what has happened. To be honest it is nowhere near as bad as i would have expected it to be. The Bicarb deffo helps. :)

If you keep Apis Mel 6c in your FA kit you will find that it mitigates the pain and swelling considerably.

My mother inlaw put an onion on mine and wow it actually took the sting away...

I always heard that if a bee stings it will die unlike a wasp who can sting many times over.
