Isn't Jersey part of the United Kingdom, ie, same kennel club etc. or are you just talking about the physical travelling. Can't they sort that themselves when they come to collect?
- By pepsi1 Date 27.07.06 17:11 UTC
Sorry im having a dumb moment it didnt even dawn on me that jersey was part of the u.k, its been a hard few weeks blaim it on the lack of sleep.

pepsi, have PMed you.
- By Moonmaiden Date 27.07.06 17:17 UTC
They have their own kennel club & are not part of the UK Kennel Club

You can fly or take dogs by the ferries & they don't need PPs
- By Isabel Date 27.07.06 17:42 UTC
Isn't that a show society?  Not sure that you can register a dog with them.
- By Moonmaiden Date 27.07.06 17:50 UTC
They have their own shows in Jersey & you have dogs registered with them to compete at their shows & I've seen dogs "imported"from Jersey in the BRS

Have a look at the event schedule page for the next Championship show It clearly says

Event: 'KCJ Summer Championship Show'........Dogs must be KCJ Registered

.......................Kennel Club of Jersey Championship Show held at the RJA & HA Showground

So if it's just a society under the UK KC why does it say that ?

I have no idea, just seems odd when Jersey is part of the United Kingdom.
- By Moonmaiden Date 27.07.06 18:02 UTC
So is Guernsey & they have their own KC too, they don't share our Government though They have their own Police Force etc

Edited to add just checked the UK KC year book & the Jersey & Guernsey KC's are recognised by the UK KC

Hi, I'm in Jersey, You don't have to anything different than selling a pup in UK. We have our own Kennel club & if the new owners wanted to Show the pup then it would have to be registered with them, (Pup would have to be registered with the UK KC first)  but otherwise it's no different.
Jersey is not part of the UK (we have our own Goverment) but it is part of the British Isles.
Hope this helps.

I see it is Staffords you have Pepsi1 I have 4 & 1 called Pepsi!!!

I too am having one of my pups go to jersey- apparently its a 10 hour boat ride! im already worrying and its not for another 3 weeks!
- By Isabel Date 27.07.06 18:45 UTC
Can it travel with the humans?
- By Tad [je] Date 27.07.06 18:47 UTC
It's 4 Hours on the day boat, I think it's only the overnighter that takes 10ish hours.  We have always gone on the faster boat & the crew are very good about going to check on the dogs.

My first foster went to live with Hal(is was a CD member) and she came over as a foot passenger to Weymouth where we met her.  She brought a crate with her and they have a room set up for the dogs, and she was able to pay visits, though strictly speaking it is staff only.

Bournemouth Airport fly regularly to Jersey and let the puppies sit with their owners and it only costs about £100 return for both, not much help if you are far from Bournemouth though.

This might sound like a stupid question (I'm not from UK), but where is Jersey? I've only heard of New Jersey US.

The Channel Islands are here and Jersey here pretty close to France as you see :)
- By Moonmaiden Date 29.07.06 07:37 UTC
Jersey is one of the Channel Islands & is nearer France than the UK

You really ought to look to Guernsey as the superior island! Alderney and the smaller isles are jewels. Out of the bigger two though Guernsey is tops :-)  :-)

Guernsey Superior???  LOL Jersey is the best Island by far!!
When was the last time you won the Murratti Karen??  (the Murratti is a football match every year between the 2 Islands which Jersey always win) Anyway we have much nicer weather in Jersey.

Well I think as footballing heritage goes WE here are more renowned generally...........I should stop at this point as I hail from smaller yet, AY, and if you put that in muratti terms...........................I live in GY and have noticed that yes it is always warmer in JY yet when it's cold it's some how colder there too! Jersey is always more  something....;-)
