My neighbour gets animals. Then gets fed up of them then gets rid.Does anyone have any ideas what I can do.I hate seeing it.
Ive lived here 18 months in that time she has had about 20 reptiles two dogs 3 cats and just gets rid of them. The latest is a English Bull Terrier only 7 months old now she is selling it.She is asking £600 for it.
When she gets rid of that she will get something else.
Two weeks ago she got chickens.
She has a horse. All it does all day is walk round and round in the paddock that is water logged .When she mucks out it is just spread on the small paddock.
She doesnt treat the animals how they should be treated. The RSPCA say as long as they are fed and watered there is nothing they can do.
Any Ideas please.
Shirley.

Hi Shirley, Have you spoken to her about it, or is she an unapproachable kind of person? Also have you a localish horse rescue, who could investigate?
- By Rose [gb] Date 17.08.02 23:13 UTC
I wont speak to her again. She knows how I feel.Ive had enviromental health round and tried every way I know. They are just idiots.
After the enviromental health went round she started selling the reptiles. So I hope they are now being looked after.
No one wants to know about the horse because it is fed and watered.
Its a stallion and bored out of it mind.
Ive been told she has ill treated the dog but I havnt seen it or I don't thinkI could hold back.

Unfortunately I don't think there is anything you can do :(
People like this exist and there are no rules and regulations to stop them aquiring pets and then disposing of them whenever they feel like it. At least if she is getting rid of the animals then they are not stopping with her so have the chance of a better home :)
Honest, animal loving, caring, responsible people are appalled at the unacceptably high level of neglect and abuse tolerated by the authorities before they deem it appropriate to act! but hey! give it food and water and it's ok - you don't even have to look at it as long as you feed it
I don't envy your location - people like that I just want to slap!

This is worse than most but it is a very common thing people getting animals then re homing then getting another. I know of a few people the same.

Not a thing you can do unless she is cruel..

Unless they are being ill-treated/neglected there is nothing at all you can do about it. it is not illegal to buy and then sell on an animal. There is a woman up the road from me who is onto her 36th dog in about 6 years!!!! she buys pedigree puppies, finds them hard work and so sells them on after about two - three months. She also buys rabbits etc etc.

We found out about her when they lost a baby rabbit. We found it in our garden - god knows how it hadn't been killed on its journey here - but I guessed it was about 10 weeks old. Turned out to be a she and she was adorable. We already have one house rabbit and we fell in love with her. There were no posters looking for her or anything. WE put posters up saying we'd found this bunny and her neighbour's son told the woman about it. I TOOK the bunny back to them - they did nothing. They seemed pleased to have her back but rather than spending time looking for her - they'd assumed they would never see her again and had been looking for a replacement!!! All this was before we knew what they were like so we left the bunny there:( I told her if ever they wanted to let her go - to let us know coz we would give her a lovely home. At that time she had a 16 week old American Cocker. She was having problems so I gave her some tips. 2 weeks later both the bunny and rabbit had been moved on.

A week after returning the bunny I was chatting to a parent at the school who turned out to be the neighbour. She said it had been her son who had seen our poster and passed the info on. Had she known it was us who'd found the bunny - she'd have taken the posters down and asked us to keep her. She has rescued three bunnies from this family. And that is the saddest thing in all this ramble - this is a young woman with three children - they are being brought up with the belief that animals are disposable comodities. But there is absolutely nothing anyone can do - they are not breaking any law:(

Makes me so angry when you hear of such cases.

In the case of chickens - you could check your covenants/rental agreements coz with many you are not allowed to keep of all things chickens!! IF the horse is in a paddock that is too small, water logged etc etc - then the RSPCA should be able to do something but often what we perceive to be unacceptable conditions for an animal is not quite bad enough for the RSPCA to act:(

GGGrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, how annoying for you. Can appreciate it, and yes, there is nothing you can do - unfortunatly.

Takes me back to were I used to live same sort of neighbours, they purchased a puppy of 7wks, left it in the back yard by itself everyday, poor thing used to cry and cry and upset the whole neighbourhood. Myself and the people at the back called the RSPCA, who said the same, as long as it had food and water there was nothing could be done:( 3 weeks later they rehomed the poor thing - hopefully somewhere better.

Hear about this sort of thing a lot unfortunatly, never gets any easier.

Thanks for all the replies.I will watch what is going on like an hawk.
Anything I can prove I will be down on them like a ton of bricks.
I agree the children will think the same and most prob follow in there parents footsteps.Getting animals and then getting rid of them.
Its so sad to see animals who are not treated right.
I just hope the dog goes to a good home.
Thanks everyone.

My neighbour got rid of the English Bull terrier last night.I hope it has gone to a good home.Does anyone have the breed supliment for terriers. The pup is just 7 months old.
I found out who bred it.Just wondering if it is a caring breeder. If it is she can spread the word to other breeders not to sell them one again.
Thanks.

Big stick, ski mask, dark night.

No I dont really mean that. Well yes I do, just dont want you to get into trouble.

I know the kind. They would get a green one to go with the carpet if it was possible.

There should be laws on this sort of behaviour.
