I know we've had this discussion before, but does anyone know if you can still get away with 24 characters PLUS spaces on a KC registered name now, or will the fact that they've now got the little boxes limit it to 24 INCLUDING spaces?

Doesn't mention spaces, and I don't think they can count as there are thirty boxes in the space for the chosen names, so that allows six spaces so a possibility of seven words.

Silly me, hadn't counted the boxes. :rolleyes: Plenty of room. :D

Just remember you've got to write it all down if you do paper entries for shows.  I could get writer's cramp filling in my boy's entries, his parents have L O N G names too.

LOL, having an import boy and another one coming, I'm used to that and was going to go for a short name ... but I've wavered LOL.

Yep that is why I stick to short name, add a title or two and it becomes a nightmare.  I have to squeeze Lexi's Dad's/our boys name in three parts into the box for his name, as he is imported too so that's another bit required to be added.

My affix is 8 letters and the next part of their names are 5 -7 letters, and I consciously try to keep it below 8 letters.

Also, bear in mind, if your dog is a good one and you use it for breeding, eventually you are going to have to write it's name in that teeny weeny little space at the end of the pedigree.
