I have already posted about our puppy who has kennel cough. Well, since she had the cough (she's now 10 months) she's started being a bit more careless (if that's the word) re peeing in the house. She's done it during the night on the kitchen floor a few times over the last couple of weeks .. but I thought perhaps since she was under the weather she may need to go more (like we do sometimes).  So I cleared it up with no fuss. But in the last 2 days, she's also peed on the living room floor during the day .. and when the outside door has been open. We've recently taken the carpet up so there's just a concrete floor at the mo ... but she's weeing where she used to do it when the carpet was down. I wonder if the smell might be there still? Anyway, is it a case of starting all over again and going out with her every half hour? Our other dog was housetrained in a matter of weeks; this one is proving much more difficult! It's as if she doesn't really care where she does it. In her younger days she even peed in her bed and crate a few times!!! She's a whippet x saluki x deerhound ... not sure if the breeding has any bearing on the matter? It's all the more frustrating now because we thought we were almost there. Obviously not. I know you have so many people here posting about house training, but I would be grateful for some ideas ... I would have thought that we should have almost made it by 10 months?

Could be a really stupid suggestion but you say she is still having coughing fits. Could she be peeing at these times by accident or do you just see her going and it has nothing to do with the cough?

Also what are you clearing the pee up with? you need something that takes away the smell - dissolved biological washing powder does this.

Has she had a season yet? Sometimes this can be a sign that the bitch is coming in season.

In your other thread you say she hasnt been out of the house since she has had kennel cough 3 weeks +, i would say she is totally stir crazy and her routine is all to pot.

Hopefully when she is over the cough and she can get out and back to her routine. I would think it was that rather than anything else.

That's the first sign I have with my girl! Followed by "dirty dancing" a couple of days later.

My dog seems to be quite susceptible to kennel cough but once when he had a very nasty attack he used to cough so much he pee'd himself.  He knew it was wrong to do it inside but he couldn't help it.  Once he was better this stopped and he was back to normal.  He's not a young dog though so you may have to encourage yours to go outside again, being still quite young.

Sorry I didn't thank you for your replies. Mmm I guess she could be coming into season (insofar as she hasn't yet and she's 10 months), though no other signs. Though the puddles are quite large and 'meanginful' rather than something that's escaped because of a cough. And yes, maybe her routine is a factor (she's still a stay at home dog having had this bloomin cough for nearly 5 weeks now). I think - perhaps - it's more to do with her saluki/whippet wilfulness sometimes!!!! Anyway, thanks again.
