Topic Other Boards / Foo / What's in your pocket??
- By Dill [gb] Date 24.07.06 12:38 UTC
Well, your childs actually

Taking the washing out of the machine just now (feeling a bit domestic today - it'll soon pass :) ) I felt something in one of Little-Un's shorts pockets.   It was  ........................................................................ a new potato  - a well washed (raw) new potato :D :D :D

Somehow, I'm more mystified at that than the sonic screwdriver I took out of another pair of shorts before I did the washing    Can't wait for the explanation :D :D :D

What sorts of things have you found in your pockets (or your children's) when doing the washing??
- By Missie Date 24.07.06 12:43 UTC
Only loose change, sweet wrappers, (regularly  ) I must learn to check the pockets before washing, once it was his watch. Oh and chewing gum!  Oh and tissues - that is really annoying as it gets over everything else. Never found any spuds though :D :D (except in his ears ;) )

Brand new mobile phone...:mad::mad::mad:

No small children but the OH usually has chewing gum, ibuprofen, security cards for getting into work. My pockets always seem to have poo bags in them. ;-)
- By rachelsetters Date 24.07.06 13:22 UTC
poo bags - yep same here - and OH too - seem to find them after I've washed them though!  Unused of course ;)

- By Isabel Date 24.07.06 12:54 UTC
Never enough loose change to make the job profitable :)
- By Missie Date 24.07.06 12:55 UTC
ooh I don't know, found 50p once ;) :D
Found money notes in OH pocket on more than one occassion, now his pockets I always check ;)

Actually I was throwing a pair of school trousers away this morning, that for some reason I washed first  and as I tipped them up a pound fell out.

Finders keepers ;)

Funny you should mention this......... Threw oldest (14) daughter's jeans in the washer yesterday morning, as she had helpfully left them in a pile on the floor meaning "wash them". Never thought to check pockets! When the wash cycle was finished and I opened the machine what did I find? A CAMERA PHONE. Yep, that's what she had in her pocket........Needless to say the phone was well and truly dead.

I ALWAYS check pockets now :D OH never empties his before putting things in for the wash :( Once he left a pink train ticket in the breast pocket of a decent white shirt ............... Otherwise it's usually tissues, money etc ......... :( It's the adult children who are the biggest problem :D

When my son was about 7 yrs I was with him as he handed over money for football cards.  The cashier said "yeeuk, this money is sticky!".  I just laughed and asked her what did she expect from a small boy's pocket? :D

Goldmali, I did the same last week £120 phone - not insured  I did ask my son to empty his pockets, which he supposedly did! I didn't even feel it with the other washing. (One of those slim ones) Guess who got the blame though, yes ME! :-(

My other son always has stones, and bits of metal in his pockets, anything he thinks will be useful to make a time machine.

my daughter when young used to collect worms :-D  you guessed it they got washed and tumbledried   my son on the other hand is much tidier with the usual money (he is 3 and clocks up more money than anyone I know) my MIL has a pub and the customers always give the kids loose change!!  stones is another one and cars apart from that they are sually empty.
Hubby on the other hand always has some tissue and quite often important cards (cardboard I might add) for collection of his weapon from stores.... it always happens when I put the machine on

at my last job, the groomer gave me her weeks rent to give to my boss as i left, a week later she asked me if i had given my boss the money, as luck had it i had the jeans on that i had had on when she gave me the money, they had been washed and ironed twice since she had given me the money, but it was still safe and sound in my back pocket where i had put it, needless to say she never asked me to give her rent in again.
Nowadays i find bus tickets, shop receipts, vet statements, sweet/crisp wrappers, poo bags, money and even a halti  all in my pockets :D

My son had a pot of Jam in his pocket. The small one that comes with a scone. He had no idea how it got there or the plastic knif with it. Boy was it sticky. Another time he had a green soggy apple in his coat pocket hate to think how long that one had been there.

I have washed my daughters MP3 player and Mobile phone and they still work

LOL  Love the pot of Jam and plastic knife :D :D  Is he a boy scout??

Have got to the bottom of the potato in the pocket :) LOL

Apparently he took it to school in his pocket so he could tell his friend who is Dragon-mad that it was an extremely rare dragon's egg :D :D :D  Now why didn't I think of that??

Small boys' pockets they're just a treasure trove - I love them :D :D

If it was a mobile phone I'd dry it out thoroughly, charge it up (keeping an eye on it ;) ) and see if it'd work :D :D :D

Any money I find while doing the washing is MINE! - since I brought in that rule I find very little cash ;) ;)

It wasnt long ago (about 6 months) that I found a cigarette in my 9 year olds school pocket  He got questioned, wouldnt tell me why it was there, so he got grounded for that and sent to his room straight away. Then he asked if he could come down, i said  not til u tell me why its in there, he told me some boys at school wanted him to nick one of OH's so he did, then he got grounded for having it in there and the teacher got told to keep him away from the boys in question
