my staffordshire bull terrier will only go to the toilet inside the house.
We can go out all day with him and he will wait till we get home.

Can u give us some details on your Staffie?
Age, how long you've had him ect?
I also own a stafford and know they can be a bit of a pest when it comes to training.
Depending on his age, how long hes lived with u, medical problems, behaviour, the way hes been trained will tell us alot.
If u post some more info I'll get back to u

Hi lucy
He is 4 months, ive had him since he was 8 weeks old.
He is full of beans and seems happy we take him out to the garden
a lot but he always waits till he gets in. The few times he has gone
to the toilet outside he has been praised. He sits and returns on comand
but that is all ive trained him to do.

HI

JI've been toilet traiiining my pup recently, and the only times she has been in th ehouse have been when she has very obviously smelt her wee from before. Perhjaps when I haven't noticed her having gone and therefore not clenaed it very well.

If a pup can sniff old urine then it will think that that's where it has been before, so it will go again. Makes sense to the pup after all!

Try a solution of bio washing powder or get an odour eater type spray from the pet shop. Then after sprayiing lavishly mop it up and dry with a kitchen towel.

If the pup has had a few accidents without you noticing then this could well be the trouble.

Another thing i do with Banya is, straight after meals or excitement or waking up, I take her out to the garden and say "Quickie, quickie". After a while she did do a wee and then she got a great piece of sausage,as she was actually doing it. <G>.

NOw she rushes out to do a wee whenver we say "Quickie" and will even pretend togo if she cna't go physically, she is so funny!! And she still gets her sausage say every 4 times she does this at the moment.

Well just a few ideas from my recent epxeriences, good luck with your little Staffie.

Hiya Matt
Bodie My Staffie was exactly the same! He would always go on the carpet after he'd been out for walks, it was a nightmare.
Washing powder as Lindsay said is a great way to get rid of the smell and making sure u always treat Sox when he "performs" would help solve the problem.

Bodies now 4 and hes great. I cant remeber the last time he "went" inside the house. Bessie my 9wk old English Bull Terrier is another story.
Shes in the toilet training phase right now so Im having the same problems with her.
Right now I take her outside as soon as she wakes up, if she cries in the nite, after eating (untill shes been) and anytime I see her "sniffing" around.

I be honest it is hard work, u need to watch them 24/7 and praise with food as soon as they've been.

Also Bodie used to tiddle on the carpet when he was excited to see someone so this can also be a problem when its difficalt for them to hold thier bladder.

Just make sure u take him outside to go as often as possible then praise lavishly with food. Hopefully that'll cure his problem. Failing that I would see a vet and make sure theres no Bladder problems there.

If u need any more information feel free to contact me at MissFrisk@hotmail.com, I'd be glad to help any way I can

Good luck
Lucy X
