Hi thanks,

To wake up without backache price seems good.

Both my other half and I went through it for a couple years, we went to hard matresses thinking that support was what we needed them softer ones.  We now have a sprung base bed along with a good matress. Can't believe the difference it made for both of us. Feels a bit waterbed like to begin with but boy can you sleep in it.

We have an an orthapedic & found it good to begin with but then rubbish.

When we bought our bed some years ago, I asked for an orthopaedic mattress :) The man in the shop was horrified and said that they didn't do them and that a top quality mattress was much, much better :) Cost a fortune, but ten years later it's in perfect condition and is still so comfortable :) (Well actually two mattresses as we have a super king size) :) Money very well spent :)

It's the quality of the mattress that counts, I think, not whether it is orthopaedic or not.  Ours is an orthopeadic and I must admit in the last 18 months or so I have kept thinking this needs changing it is not as comfortable as it was but then it is 25 years old :)

Our old orthopaedic mattress was about 20 years old when we changed it :) It belonged to OH before I knew him. Considering it had been used as a trampoline by OH and son (they frequently broke the legs on the divan base - but it was a ritual when OH came home from work :D ) it lasted ages :) The in-laws seemed to have an endless supply of legs, until the last set meant that we slept with our feet much higher than our heads as they had run out of the right size :D :D

I can highly recommend a memory foam matress.  Costly, yes but you don't wake up in a bad "Tempur".  I wouldn't sleep on anything else now.

wish our mattresses lasted that long.

Seem to buying a new one every couple of years.

Perhaps you are making more demands on yours than ours :)

The best mattresses for me are super firm but with the pillow top. Very comfortable but very supportive.
