Did you read this it made me feel so upset and angry, how those poor dogs must have suffered.
A few years ago a judge asked the owner of a dog that had died in a hot car whether he would prefure a hefty fine or to sit in his hot car for as long as he had left his dog, the dogs owner opted to sit in his car. He was begging to be allowed out to pay the fine after just a few minutes.

Well i think he should have been MADE to stay in the car after all that was his decision, they should have locked him in and walked away like he did with his dog.

What a clever Judge. I agree the bloke should have had no option but to stay in the car having chosen to take that punishment.

This dogs in hot cars business makes me wild.:mad:

I found a dog in a car in a supermarket car park a few weeks ago.The windows were down a little bit and it was parked under a tree for shade, there was a disabled driver badge in the front of the car showing that it had been left for only a few minutes, but I went back 20 minutes later to check on it. Thankfully the car had gone, but I wouldn't have hesitated to at least have the owner paged in the supermarket or even phoned the police. You have no option but to believe these people are idiots.

I have just heard about a few children who died after being left in the car, after their parents forgot to take them to day care, they went to work and left them strapped in their baby seats all day. That would be murder wouldnt it.

i would have thought it would be manslaughter rather than murder. Though I don't know how anyone can forget they have children i the car
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 22.07.06 17:16 UTC
Manslaughter I expect, because they didn't mean to kill them. Poor little scraps. :(

Are you sure this is a true story? How could they have forgotten their children were in the car  Surely they would have heard them(kids arent exactly quiet),and seen them when they got out the car, maybe got some stuff out and locked it... What country was this supposed to have happened in?
- By Tricolours [gb] Date 23.07.06 05:12 UTC
Ktee well this is what i heard, dont know any other details but if i hear or read anymore i will let you all know.

I dont mean to dispute this if its true, but I saw a CSI type program once that had this story line, so just wondered if there is a mix up here?
- By Tricolours [gb] Date 23.07.06 06:27 UTC
calmstorm please tell me more about a CSI type of programme. I have to admit when i heard about it i thought it a bit strange that the parents left them behind, and as Ktee said surely they would have heard them, but there are some dumb people out there who shouldnt have kids so i believed it.

I found this on Snopes. It seems it truly happens, quite often. :(

The Ben Shelton case is the one I remember hearing about at the time.

I also watched the program about the 2003? heat wave where there was a case of a Grandmother taking her two grandchildren out, and on way home she felt poorly and went to pick up some medicine.  she left the kids in the car, found the queue too long so was on her way back when she passed out and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

She came around and told the ambulance men about the kids in the car park but it was ages before they wee found close to death.

Despite all the hospitals efforts one at least of the children died.
