My dog had an operation under her arm (or leg, whichever you want to call it). She had her leg and neck shaved, not sure what they were both for. She keeps scratching her neck to the point where it is getting very red and sore looking.
Is this just because of the hair being shaved off or something else?
Any advice would be great.

Clipper rash is very common. Also some dogs react to the stitches so I woudl check with the vet.
She doesn't even seem to know that the stitches under her arm are there

The only thing bothering her is her neck.
Am I safe to say that it is just from the clippers? It is only red though because she scratches it.

Just one thing, has she been out in the sun? I ask this as it could be the heat, the sun can catch the shaved areas really quickly!
If you are sure it's nothing to do with the stitches and just the shaved area, you could try gently rubbing ice cubes over the itchy area - our GR loved it and it seemed to ease the itchiness where he was shaved!
Then there is also collodial silver, this seems to stop itching too! I'm not sure if calomine lotion works on dogs, but I'm sure someone on the forum will let you know!
Good luck
Maria
Nope, she hasn't been in the sun. Just very red and sore down to scratching it. Definetly nothing to do with the stitches as it is only her neck, not under her arm.

try the ice cubes, it will numb the area slighly so ease the itching!

When my dog had her side and back end shaved for ops, I rubbed some Aloe vera gel on the fiery bits seemed to help...
