This year flatcoat pups have been pretty much scarce, due to various reasons, so it may be a good idea to get you name down on a breeders list first. In the spring pups are few and far between because most flatcoats are worked during the shooting season. There are usually a few more available by mid summer.
You could try ringing Mrs Shirley Johnson who is the litter register secretary, (downstream@ukonline.co.uk) for the Flatcoated Retriever Society, (covers the whole UK), or Sue@memorylane.co.uk who is planning to mate her bitch next year.
Where ever you buy from do ask to see the British Veterinary Association certificates for eye testing for glaucoma and hip displaysia. Flatcoats currently average a total score of 9 for hips.
