- By briedog [gb] Date 19.07.06 06:23 UTC
i just got back from sweden looked at two puppies .but again cannot think of a name for them
their kc name is crash n brun and prays n promises

we thought of hero for crash n brun reason a  fireflighter are  a hero who dealts with crash, and fires.

prays n promises we thought of god which is dog spell back wards.

then the place we stay that was hogbo which i like shorten the name to bo.

they are liver in colour and males.

but then we got a bitch called blue so will bo with that.

need the names soon as they not got a name just puppies at the moment

What about Flame or Flare for Crash 'n' Burn?

As for Prays 'n' Promises, personally I couldn't call a dog God and I'm not religious.  But then I know of someone with a Flatcoat called Bottom!

What about going the other way & calling him Sinner?
- By rachelsetters Date 19.07.06 06:40 UTC
I like Flame for Crash n Burn!

but can't come up with a thing myself - sorry!
- By briedog [gb] Date 19.07.06 06:40 UTC
thanks

andrew will like the name sinner::rolleyes::rolleyes:
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 19.07.06 06:51 UTC
I wouldn't call a dog God either - apart from religious overtones and capacity to offend, imagine calling it in the park LOL.

If you wanted to follow that thought though, you could go for Deo (Day-o) which I believe is Latin for God. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Ok - had a little more time what about Zeus (wasn't he a Greek God?) for Pray 'n' Promises?

Although I do like Bo - just saw that - and Blue with Bo think it should be okay? - have you tried saying Bo in front of Blue and see how she reacts?
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 19.07.06 07:18 UTC
Had a look at a Latin dictionary now - should be Deus (Day-us) rather than Deo.

Hi Briedog & Lily
How about Theo? (it is Greek for God)
all the best
- By Enfielrotts [eu] Date 19.07.06 06:53 UTC
I like Flame, esp as they are liver in colour (you would think of a flame being orange):)  Or something like Chaos, Bedlam, Havoc, Riot???

I am not sure on God either personally but it is your decision, how about Priest or Roman, Genesis, Exodus etc etc???
- By Brainless [gb] Date 19.07.06 06:59 UTC Edited 19.07.06 07:03 UTC
I like Flame for the first and how about 'MONK' for the other.  I agree you can't call him God.

Monks often wear brown habits so I think it would go well and wouldn't be offensive.
- By spanishwaterdog [gb] Date 19.07.06 08:00 UTC
You've already got a Gollie, don't want to insult anyone by calling your dog God :d :d :d :d

Sorry, no idea, although I also like the name Flame.  Not much help am I? :d
- By briedog [gb] Date 19.07.06 10:37 UTC
you know me i like to be different.

you all coming up with some good names keep it rolling in.
- By briedog [gb] Date 19.07.06 11:36 UTC
when gollie has her next litter my friend going to have a male and calling him gosh
- By Carrington Date 19.07.06 15:43 UTC
:-D Oh dear, Gollie, Gosh, you are so funny.

Agree with everyone else, GOD!! Of course you can not call your dog God, remember you have to call your dog, how embarrassing would that be, don't know how you have got away with Gollie.

But....... as to the Prays N Promises, how about Denver, (how did I come to that) John Denver had an album called Poems, Prayers and Promises.;-)

Or 'Demdaco' the maker of the Prayers and Promises figurines.

Or Spirit.
- By Teri Date 19.07.06 09:07 UTC
How about "Mylor" (intentionally no "d") - several Continental owned/bred dogs I know have that name and I don't know of anyone offended b it ;)  or go the alternative route such as "Pagan"  or Wicca"

I liked the suggestion of "Flame" for the other one :)
- By Minny_Minsk [gb] Date 19.07.06 13:14 UTC
How about Vic for Prays N Promises (short for Vicar)?
- By Jetstone Jewel [ca] Date 20.07.06 00:37 UTC
Blaze?  As in burn?  As in Flame?
- By hopevalley [gb] Date 20.07.06 05:49 UTC

it only one puppy coming over,i look at 3 but there was two that i like but andrew would let me have one but two i be divoce.but i havnt got to chose yet, there alots of things to iron out frist bye testing the dog before he comes over,if he fail any he not coming.so not untill next year march/april time.thare alot at state in bring a dog over,as i know bye bring torsten over 3 years ago.just got to do my homework and get it right has there alot of pounds going out the window, but at the end of the day he be here in a pet/show home with andrew working him.and to go to my girls.

andrew took photo but not as good  as your skills.with wiggle bum puppies not standing still for a second.running around the woods having fun is more important than show off skill for standing, like good at me.it better eating elk poo and roll down a hill and into water. is fun.

bye the way tangles hip score come back 8.better than gollie of 10 but the avage for swd is 15,
so there may be a puppy for you in two years time:rolleyes:

Parkin for Crash 'n' Burn?  With all the fiery names I thought of bonfire, then I thought of bonfire parkin
Preacher for Prays 'n' Promises?
- By Lokis mum [gb] Date 20.07.06 07:55 UTC
I like Parkin & Preacher :D

Margot
- By spanishwaterdog [gb] Date 20.07.06 13:03 UTC

- By briedog [gb] Date 20.07.06 13:23 UTC

- By spanishwaterdog [gb] Date 20.07.06 14:34 UTC
I'm soooo pleased for you and for me of course :d :d  It's great for the breed too that we've had so many low scores this last 2 weeks.
- By hopevalley [gb] Date 21.07.06 05:52 UTC
That's great about tangles hips!!  You must be v pleased.  You know how much I love her!!!
Sounds exciting about the FC pup. Are you at national gundog?
- By briedog [gb] Date 21.07.06 06:17 UTC
yes with the two swd and brie.
- By hopevalley [gb] Date 21.07.06 15:30 UTC
I'm taking Indy, should be a nice day. I'm looking forward to it.
- By Saxon [gb] Date 23.07.06 20:54 UTC Edited 23.07.06 20:58 UTC
Chocar is Spanish for crash and Rezar is Spanish for pray. Just a couple of suggestions.I certainly wouldn't go around your local park shouting 'Hero' 'God' if I were you. People will think you're a looney.
- By briedog [gb] Date 24.07.06 05:19 UTC
thank you but the puppies are flatcoated retrievers not spainsh water dogs, that the next import from aboard will be an swd.but that a long way off yet.
- By BeckyJ [gb] Date 24.07.06 20:09 UTC
There is a nice picture of the puppies dam (Pleasure N Play) in the Swedish Pedigree book which we got this morning in the post.  That pedigree book is so huge now that it has to go into 3 volumes - it took half the morning to unpack!!
Becky
- By ChristineW Date 24.07.06 20:25 UTC
Well, I've just found Pleasure 'n' Play and the puppy Crash 'n' Burn thanks to Google!
- By BeckyJ [gb] Date 24.07.06 20:39 UTC
If you use Rasdata which is http://www.rasdata.nu/flat/ and then go on to "Fodda" you can see all the litter registrations for the last 30 odd years - it is excellent.  much quicker than google!!
It also has all the health tests, show results - the works. It really is the most comprehensive helpful website.

For all breeds too.  That is the site that cheared me up when I got Lastar's hip score results back as 90% of his pups on there have good results.  Two have been scored so far here and have well below the breed average results too, so it shows that the results on there are true :d
- By ChristineW Date 24.07.06 21:24 UTC
Thanks Becky,

Although FCR's aren't my breed, I can appreciate a well constructed one, infact there's a lot of the Scandanavian countries that are producing some very nice specimens amongst the gundog breeds with super angulation fore & aft.   In my breed, it seems to be an afterthought!  ;)
- By briedog [gb] Date 24.07.06 21:06 UTC
becky where did you get book from,if you are going to the next 3 major champshow can you bring it long so i could have a look at it please,
did you just judge bitches in switerland beacuse the sire of the puppy lives there at the plainfire kennles.

there a very nice photo of her hold a bird of one of the swedish book to,she so pretty.

the puppy will not be over untill spring next year.is have not got a name what i like andrew dosnt.??? i do like pagan but i thing its a bit girly name,

i got another site like rasdata from finland,
i which we in the uk can have a site like this that the kennel club and the bva should but together to see all the deatils on a dog pedigree and health issues,
i put the finland site on this board later off to bed now

I judged in Luxembourg not Switzerland although having said that there were entries from Holland, Austria, Switzerland, Belguim and Germany.  My BOB was from Belgium and my best bitch was from Switzerland.

The book I am referring to is a little like the directory that Brenda Phillips used to do - it comes out every 5 years.  I have them going back right to the beginning - I will scan the picture for you - easier than bringing the whole book.

Finnish site is good - now that I have got my Finnish colleagues to translate it for me!
- By Harley Date 25.07.06 11:29 UTC
Pagan is not a girly name - the chap who used to mow a friend's lawn ( before they had dogs and so had a lawn to mow) was called Pagan and he wasn't at all girly :)
- By ChristineW Date 25.07.06 12:19 UTC
I knew of a Munster bitch called Pagan, so to me it's a bitch's name.  Think Wicca is better if you're going down that route.
- By LINE [gb] Date 28.07.06 15:35 UTC
This was a really fun!! How about

For crash n brun: Backdraft, Smokie, Burn, Tango, Flash, Lightening
For pray n promises: Mighty, Spirit, Holy, Cross, Sky, Pluto (God of Hades; brother of Zeus)

I must say I also like Bo (Good looking in French "Beau") & Monk (one of my favourite detective!!).

Incidently we named our GR Amber and you know what? For some reason, now that I know her better, I think of her more like a Tiger!! Nothing to do with looks it's more like a feeling specially when she is running. Sorry got carried away there...
