Hi
After receiving the free samples of Arden Grange I thought, after reading peoples remarkes on how wonderful it was, would have no trouble at feeding this.
No such luck, Elle hates the stuff.
I've really struggled to feed her in this hot weather, has anyone else experienced this?
Didn't eat last night, this morning did seem a bit hungry so I decided to use JWB for her training, she has not eaten this for weeks, she managed to get through 2 small handfulls ( she is a 12mth CKCS).
I was so pleased with her, at lunch time she seemed hungry (which is not like her) I gave her another couple of handfuls of JWB with a bit of chopped up cooked chicken, she loved it.
If she doesn't eat anymore today I will not worry.
Do you think it will be O.K. to feed her when she wants it in this hot weather, and not just stick to meal times, which has been at tea time for the past 3 months.
Regards Bron

I think in this hot weather non of us really want to stick to a routine when it comes to food.  Id carry on as you are and at least shes eating something.  My pup is off her food and she also has Nature Diet and a bit of JWB (she hasnt touched the kibble for 4-5 days now.  I gave her some rice, fish and carrots today as I was getting worried and she wolfed it down.  Shes only a little Lab so when shes off her food I worry.  Are you sure its just the hot weather thats causing her appitite loss?  I dont see a problem in what you are doing as long as you are happy with it too

You could try throwing a handful on the lawn so she has to hunt for it and she might enjoy looking for it -  we do that sometimes to occupy our youngster.

Are you perhaps overestimating how much she needs.  In this weather with not doing much she may only want half her normal amount.

When I have weighed food a small handful would be about 2oz, so 4oz per meal would be ample for a day, as that is how much my much bigger (19 1/2 inch at shoulder around 18 - 20kg adult weight) dogs get a day if I am dieting them, (normally about 7oz a day).

With my 12 week old pups I've had to feed when they want to eat, which is when it is cooler. The other dogs are greedy enough to eat anytime, but the pups have had their biggest meals early evening and around midnight and it seems to work fine.

I've had nothing but icecream and water all day myself, just sent hubby out to get a take away (who wants to cook in this!!) and he said he doesn't think he can eat in this weather. 32 it's been here today and they say Wednesday will hit 35. AWFUL. We'd need to sleep during the day and stay awake during the night really, humans and animals alike!

My Bedlingtons eat around 4 oz per day each.  Both are well covered but not fat.  I would have thought this amount would be more than a Cav  would need? - especially in this weather ;)
