My OH has very kindly bought me a very nice new mobile phone (well my contract was up for renewal so did a good deal).  Now he would like my old phone which is a Sony Ericson K750i which is currently locked to vodafone (he is on O2) - we have searched on the internet but not sure the best way to unlock - is it secure online?  has anyone used an internet service to unlock their phone or is it best to go in a shop to have it done!

My hubby was on T-Mobile (Contract) when it ran out i just took the phone to the market and they unlocked it for £10 :) T-Mobile wanted £15 to do it.

Vodafone wouldnt unlock mine for me so i took it to the local market and they did it for £10.

The one I used was a Nokia Unlock site, my friend in London has used these people though & her hubby unlocked his Sony Ericcson(don't know which one though) recently. You could try contacting them to see if they can help

Thanks MM - will give them a try there are alot of Nokia remote unlocking sites but not so many for Sony Ericson!

New phone arrived it's lovely and very swish - same as Jose Mourinho!  OH want that one but no way! :)

Get yourself to the market or there are some independant shops that will do it.  You'll find them advertising in the local free ads.  I found that with a difficult phone (Sagem flip phone locked to Vodaphone) the shop was the only place that could do it as they had to have a special (expensive) programme, but OH had an Ericsson unlocked at the market :)

We both paid £10 regardless :)

This might be a bit obvious but have you tried phoning Vodaphone?  My daugher was with Virgin for a while then passed her phone on to me; Virgin were very helpful and passed on the unlock codes as she had been a regular customer.  That was a Samsung phone.

Thanks all - being a wee bit impatient we were hoping to go down the route of internet but looks like it's a shop visit! or even the market?! not that I know where a local market would be that did it!  But sure we will get it sorted!  Mind you he is trying to have my new phone now which is lovely!

If you have a local open air weekly market that has a stall selling mobile phones or mobile phone accessories - then thats a good place to start :D

Don't worry he is not having it - but he has decided that he may get one shortly so the other phone will be going on ebay shortly!!! still locked to vodafone!
