Our 4 month collie x has just been stung in the garden, we cant see a sting in the wound so we think it is probably a wasp, Ive read that dogs can have piriton tablets for the swelling and pain, just wondered if it is ok for a puppy to take, will one tablet be ok?

where abouts has the pup been stung? if in the face area I would get to the vets straight away as swelling can cause breathing problems in these areas. If not I would at least ring the vets for some advice before giving any medications. Hope your pup is ok
He has been stung on his back leg, there is a small raised lump and seems to have not swollen anymore. We only found it because he was licking it, as I originally thought he had banged himself and that is what had made him yelp. He is trying to race around and play with our other dog so we are trying to keep him still for a little bit, I will give the vets a quick ring, but he actually seems to have bounced back rather quickly...
Must admit when my girl got stung on her eyelid and it swelled right up, I rushed her to the vets for an injection, it probably would have gone down on it's own, but you can never be too careful. A phone call to the vets will not go amiss even though it is the back leg and he will tell you about Piriton.

taras been stung twice in the mouth...STRAIGHT to vets, cant mess around with airways. the time she got stung on her back i got the sting out myself & kept a VERY close eye on her!

I was told to give human version of piriton to my pup for travel sickness, she weighed 2.8kg and was told to give her 1/2 a tablet by the vet.
I haven't tried it yet as it's been too hot to go anywhere in the car with the dogs.

Keep the homoepathic remedy Apis Mel 6c available from Boots about you. the tiny pilules work a treat.

are dogs more prone to allergic reactions to bee stings than humans? I ask because my husband wants to restock his bee hive in the spring.
Well Anton has decided to tke a real fascination to bees. He keeps chasing them and trying to catch them aggggghhhhhhhh ! Luckily he hsn't yet but has become very close to it.
