hi does anyone know if its safe to give a pregnant dog antibiotics in week 5 to 6 of pregnancy, my vet has given us synolux (sp) but he said antibiotics arnt tested on pregnant dogs but he thinks they will be ok,im abit worried about giving them to her .

A few years back our bitch had kennel cough when she was 6/7 weeks and was given synulox. She was fine and went onto have 7 healthy pups.

i noticed today she had what looked like a bad insect bite or abcess i wasnt sure ,but when i took her to the vets he said it was deffo an abcess and she needed antibiotics or i could try just keeping it very clean with salt water ,he didnt fill me with much confidence really about the tablets but i brought them home with me anyway ,thought id ask everyones advice first .

Synulox is perfectly safe in pregnancy and lactation too.

Two of my girls have had Synulox during pregnancy, one from week 3 till whelping, she had a healthy litter.

When you say an abcess, where is it to?

Ouch, must be horrible with this heat as well.  The anti-biotics will help heal it quickly.

Good luck
