Hi all
I have a 10 month old choc lab bitch who is the sweetest pup you will meet. Im a little concerned as she seems really fed up and distant from us. She takes herself off into the garden and sits by herself. Shes happy to see us in the morning and is always ready for her morning walk, after that shes just fed up. She is eating the same amount (shes not a big eater for a lab), her routine hasnt changed and Im with her most of the time. Could she be coming into season? She has no physical changes, nothing I can see, just seems distant. If I ask her to sit (for a treat) she backs off and walks away?????

Hi Lab Lover,
I wouldn't worry too much as to me it does sound as though she could be starting her first season. Its probably she's feeling abit down in the dumps just like it is for humans. If she is eating normally then you shouldn't worry. I have a 3 yr old Lab aswell and she sounds very similar to yours in that she isn't a greedy Lab but we had her neutered before she had her first season so not that experienced sorry. Have you searched google?
Best wishes

No I havent searched Google. I think I will take her to vets tomorrow if there is no improvement. Shes just stays in her cage looking really glum. She hasnt eaten her tea, although sometimes she can take it of leave it. She seems cold too. Her paws are cold, is that normal. Its not cold outside or in the house. Shes been like this for 2 or 3 days

Yeah that sounds like a good idea, poor little pup, I didn't realise she was like it for 3 days. Having cold paws is when the body is trying to fight an illness (cold, tummy bug) and the blood is sent to the vital organs (heart, lungs etc). She may have just eaten something bad but better to be safe. I will keep my fingers crossed for her, let us know how she gets on.
Best wishes and good luck!

Taken her to vet this morning. Theyre keeping her in to xray her back end and to rule out hip dysplacia, rather than just giving her a shot and sending her home. She wasnt bothered about the vet, normally really happy to walk through their doors. Shes starting to curl her back end in dont know why. Will keep you posted.............
When I say she was like it for three days I meant there were little signs of her not been herself and not that shes been bad for 3 days
Aww....I hope it's nothing serious
I'll keep you and your puppy in my thoughts x
Got back from vet - no hip displasia, thank god! He thinks its a pulled muscle, xrays completely clear. Shes all woozy from the GA! Our pets worry us dont they:-) Shes on Metacam for a few days. Thanks for your replies

Ahhh glad to hear that there's nothing serious. Give her a big hug from me :d Pleased to hear about the hips!

Oh great, I'm glad she's ok.
Sorry about getting mixed up before.
You'll have to give her lots of treats, that will cheer her up!!!
