For fear of making myself look & sound really, really stupid, here goes nothing!
My puppies are now 5 weeks old & due for their 2nd worming. After having problems with Drontal Puppy with my last litter I thought I'd use Panacur this time. They had their first treatment at 3 weeks. Nothing abnormal to report, they were a bit smelly for a day or two but no squity bums.
Anyway, tonight I thought I had better do them again. According to the instructions it say's; 0.5ml per 1kg bodyweight. My pups average out at 2.5kg so you'd think 1.25ml. Me being the stupidist person gave them an average of 2.5ml & it was only as I went to do the last puppy that I realised :(
As soon as I had realised I phoned the Vet straight up who was very good & calm & said that it was nothing to worry about & they should be ok but obviously if there is any problems then to take them in for a check up.
I've just been on to the Intervet website which also say's 0.5ml per 1kg bodyweight but then doseage as below;
Practical dosage recommendations:
Up to 1 kg - 0.5 ml daily for 3 days 1 to 2 kg - 1 ml daily for 3 days
2 to 4 kg - 2 ml daily for 3 days 4 to 6 kg - 3 ml daily for 3 days
etc.................
Now am I really that stupid or am I missing something? According to the above, I've maybe only given upto 0.5ml too much, which yes is bad enough but just doesn't make sense

I've emailed Intervet asking for their advice but would welcome any from here as well please.
Has anyone else done this? If you prefer to PM me then I will keep anything in the strictest confidence.
As this is normally a 3 day regime, the Vet recommended I don't do the other 2 doses, just worm again at 7 weeks.
I've slapped my own wrists & the puppies have loved the extra cuddles from their stupid Mummy :rolleyes:
Lesson for the day; don't do important things when you're poorly & full of tablets :rolleyes:
