
I remember being shocked at how many were bred as \I had assumed the high price was linked to low supply.
Obviously the great British public like the breed so much that they are willing to pay so much for them even when there seem to be plenty bred still demand seems to outstrip supply.
As for struggling for every breath, except for hot weather, the Bulldogs I have met seem to breath and function the same as most any dog.
As for being able to breed naturally I do believe this issue needs to be addressed by breeders and self whelping and mating characteristics actively selected for, as the gene pool seems to be plenty wide enough with the numbers being bred.
