my GSD normally doesnt have any goo in his eyes in the morning but for the last 2 weeks he has, this coincides with my partners high hay fever. i wipe it away and its gone till the next morning. just looks like "sleep" to me but much heavier than normal. Any thoughts?

Do you have anything growing in local fields. One of mine has a slight runny eye problem when the rape seed is growing. Tip I was given was to wipe eyes with cold teabag of a morning. It does work. Sounds like it could be this given your partner's hayfever is at it's worst. Obviously if you're not happy then a trip to the the vets for a check might be in order.

we are surrounded by rape, so that might be it, im going to the vets next week for kennel cough so i'll have a word then, thanks for the teabag tip.

Could be conjunctivitis, keep an eye on it (no pun intended) and if not getting better trip to the Vets is recommended.

Some of the time gooey eyes can be a sign of food allergies, cheap fillers in food are often the cause.
Try using maybe a hypoallergenic food and see if it makes any difference
