Has anybody had a dog with the above?  What were the symptoms signs?  Does anybody know of any good sites with photo's etc?

Hopefully I'm worrying about nothing before I go to the vets tomorrow but it would be good to be aware of the condition etc if necessary.

Well hadn't seen my dog until tonight as she's staying at her grandparents.  I have a feeling that the news isn't going to be good tomorrow but she's so fit and happy.  Not only am I going to have to take her in the morning but now Anton's got an aural haematoma!!!  Just as the cut was healing on his ear, looks like the toll of having problems with his cut ear for such a long time has now caused this!

Wish me luck later as I think I'm going to need it:rolleyes:

Just caught up on this one. I don't often look in health ;)

My M-I-L's papillonXsheltie had a small lump just below his tail. They operated on it and removed a growth the size of a tennis ball  Big tumour for a small dog :) Most of the tumour was 'inside'. He made a full recovery and lasted a few more years. I think he eventually died aged 14!

However, sorry to add this one, I do know of another dog who was PTS as his was wrapped round the blood vessels and muscle so was inoperable. :( I think it will depend on how any growth is situated as to wether it will be a good outcome or not.

Will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Well she's going in tomorrow to be operated on.  Vet thinks that although she's nearly 13 that she's got  good couple of years in her yet:d  She is an extremely fit old girl and still goes water training and swimming.

It turned out to be a polyp, it's absolutely massive on the outside so haven't a clue how much bigger it is on the inside.

Hopefully her bloods and chest x-ray will be clear tomorrow for us to go ahead with the operation.

The vet was Spanish too and thought that both dogs were wonderful.  Anton was a good little lad and had 3 syringes full of blood from his haematoma.  So I'm now almost £400 poorer!

Sending positive thoughts for the op tomorrow :)

Hope Anton's ear is ok too.
- By spanishwaterdog [gb] Date 03.07.06 13:11 UTC
Thank you :d :d  Still can't get over how big a polyp can be   Fingers crossed for another couple of years with her as she's a wonderful old girl!

Well her bloods and chest x-ray are all clear, so she's about to have the op. now.  The main vet is doing it and he also seems very confident, so I've got everything crossed!

Will keep fingers and toes crossed for you both :)

Glad to hear it isn't a tumour. Son't they worry you sick at times? ;)

All fingers, toes, paws and tails crossed in this house for you.
Hope all goes well

Just phoned vet and all's well!!!  Have to pick her up at 6.20 tonight, don't know whether I can wait that long, really missed her :d

Have been following this, just wanted to say how happy I am that everything turned out so well! Some years ago we lost our dear Pebbles to rectal cancer, inoperable and not very pretty, so I know all about the worries and how difficult an area this can be.
Wishing your girl a speedy recovery,
Karen

Thank you everyone!  she slept on the settee at mum and dads last night :d :d  And rushed out this morning to do the necessary.  Had a couple of small meals too so fingers crossed.

Great news D glad it went well :D
- By spanishwaterdog [gb] Date 06.07.06 07:48 UTC
Well she was running around and jumping on the settee like a mad woman last night.  Except for the bruising you wouldn't think that she'd had anything done!  She's going for her check-up at dinner time.
- By spanishwaterdog [gb] Date 06.07.06 11:50 UTC
Mum took her for her check-up and the vet went mad on what a wonderful dog she is.  She told my mum that she was very impressed with all of my dogs that she has seen and that she can tell that they are well looked after and loved   She was also impressed on how fit she was for her age.

I feel so proud, but she is a wonderful girl who has never been any trouble in all of the almost 13 years that I have owned her.
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 08.07.06 16:11 UTC
I just can't believe how well she is.  Only problem is now is that her and her daughter are being rather randy, Carina is near the end of her season.  I'm just worried if this will bring Lydia into season which I hope not.  I'm hoping that due to having such a large polyp removed from her vulva that it may put it back a bit rather than bring it forward!

Glad to hear all went well :)

Our dog Cuervo had ractal cancer with a huge growth/tumor growing outside and inside but she was still very full of life. They put a camera up her bum (of course she was out for the ordeal) to see what was all up. We were told major surgery that they would basically have to reconstruct her whole area plus they didn't do that type of op here. Chances are it would grow back just as fast, we chose to keep her comfortable until she looked like she wasn't having much of a life. I Always gave her medimucil to soften her stool. She ended up passing do to a freak accident and to this day we still blame ourselves :(

Very glad to hear all is going well and hope you have many more happy years with your furbaby :)
