Anyone got any idea how I can stop a neighbour's dog doing his business in a place I'd really rather he didn't?!!!

I'm sick of picking up for someone else :-(

Have you had a word yourself?  Is he doing it in a public place?  In which case speak to your local dog warden who will then have a word with him.   If it is on your property you could get a solicitor to write a letter regarding the trespass issues however this should be a last resort as good neighbour relationships are worth hanging on to and also any incidents such as this must be declared if you put your house on the market in the future.

Hmmm its not that simple Isabel....he's leaving his business card in a part of our garden which has shared access.  I'm loathe to start WW3 but feeling really frustrated by this - particularly as during this hot weather the windows are open and the flies are a pain :-(

I'm looking for some safe but effective ideas as to what I could spray/sprinkle/pour on this area to try and encourage him to find a new toilet space.....?

Dettol and Jeyes haven't had any effect. :-(

HELP!

How dirty and inconsiderate of your neighbour! Can't blame the dog, is the dog going on grass or a pathway? Trouble is once dogs find their poop place, they use the same area or there abouts, I take it you are looking for a product with a scent to discourage him using the grass or pathway. You could always stick one of those wind ornomants, or a plant in a pot where he goes, (obviously not if it is in the middle of a pathway) but this may make him go even further into your garden.

To be honest the easiest method would be to have a word with your neighbour about the smell and whether they could check for his toileting frequently themselves, not to mention it ending up on your shoes, infact that could be used as an excuse for a word, that you trod in some and walked it into your home. If your worried about face to face chats, pop a note through their doorway, but a nice friendly word would be better.  If they get upperty and unfriendly, pick the poop up and leave the bag outside their front door, they will soon get the idea.

They are probably just inconsiderate, and have no idea that their dog is doing it if you are cleaning it up, or feel it no problem with you not mentioning it.

*Just remembered with cats you can deter by sprinkling lion pee, so maybe with a dog you could just pop out and get some wolf pee* :-D

Odour Kill or the cheapest method is the washing powder
watered down and washed over the area (I think it's the biological one)

It's the advice given when puppies keep weeing on the carpet and to try and
deter them from doing it in the same place again.

At least with the washing powder one you could do the whole area which is
shared access at reasonable cost..

Hope this helps.
Best of Luck & you have my sympathy

My new next door neighbour is just letting her dog out to do it's business and unfortunately it's decided to do it in my front garden.  Unfortuntely I do not feel that I am able to approach them as there are people going around at all hours and the scent that was coming through my front windows yesterday is one that I don't think is legal

Debs, can't you pick it up and 'lob' it into their side?? Is it rented or privately owned?? Maybe the Landlord if rented?? Other than that I suppose you need to confront them FRIENDLY like!!

Isn't it amazing how little people care about their neighbours anymore?? I'd be mortified if I thought I had created a problem!

Hope you get it sorted one way or another!!?? All the best, Dawn
