I would be inclined to leave it there (if it is sleeping!) till dusk... then just pick it up carefully, they don't bite(I have never known one too) and are really soft to the touch. I would then release it back outside. If you are worried at all, put in a box with holes in till later and then release it, but don't do it till dusk.
hope that has helped

lol I would put it in a cardboard box with lid on and holes till later as they can't tolerate the heat like it is at the moment! the let go later tonight! It will calm down once it is in darkness. to catch it try using a sheet if it isn't landing lol.

When one was found at work, the local Zoo told me to firmly pick it up in a tea towel and take it outside! Have fun! :D

um, the DO BITE and as bats are the only mammal known to freely cross the channel & carry rabies

you need to be very very careful about picking them up. We do a lot of work for bats here, encoutraging roosts etc & having a thriving colony. Open windoes/doors & stay calm, it probably doesnt want to be in your house. if ts sleeping, then elave it be & open everything tonight so it can fly out.

Iwould suggest getting in touch with the Bat people as it may be illegal to disturb or move one??? Apart from the risk to yourself LOL Bats have sharp 'fangs' and you don't want to turn into a Vampire LOL :P

the Bat people are good, but I havent a clue what they're actually called or how to get in touch with them, We had a problem at work (Univ) and the bat people came in and 'resolved' the problem.
If the bat has simply flown in, then leave the room with the windows open and hopefully it will go. Unless the bat is actually living in your premises, you can get it out. However, if it was found they were living there, then you can't move them, as they are protected. Where are you in the country? We had a 'bat survey' on our barns, if i can find the number of the bloke, or the website, I'll pass it on by PM

There's lots of advice on the website about how to get a bat out of a building plus a phone number to call for help

thats what we did when one was found kipping in mollies bedroom - opened all the windows and left it to find its own way out.
it took Mollie about 3 years to go back in there LOL
