Hi all, just another question, how do you all measure your dogs height? there must be an easier way that i haven't tried lol... Blade doesn't care much to being pinned to the door frame and being drawn on with red pen please tell me of an easier way as he doesn't stand nice and straight when I try to do it this way :-D
Can't help you but Jet doesn't like it either, especially if someone else is doing it. I got a lot of dirty looks when she was measured for her agility card and cringed every time the officials tried to measure her. I think they believed I had somehow taught her to do that so she would fit in a lower class.
GSDs(of the international type) are routinely measured using a measuring stick like the one pictures here The dog is stood on a level surface & the bottom goes under the pasterns & the top rests on the top of the withers
I use a stick and a spirit level, then mark the stick, then measure! Easy really (hubby thought of that one!!)

Door frame, book, pencil :) but Bedlingtons seem to 'sink down' sometimes if you're not careful making them seem shorter   getting them to stand normally is the hard bit ;)
I do ours while they are eating but they do eat from raised feeders so they arent stooping down so give a nearly accurate measurement as i'm going to get.
Thats a good idea, Blade has a raised feeder too so that should help!! he is a nightmare with the door post scenario as he just starts to sit/lay/stoop so i can never get a real accurate reading. will have a go tomorrow whilst he is eating. I have a metre rule anyway so that is half the battle just need to get it exact!! especially now he has stopped in height!! Thanks all for your help, just thought it was me that was battling with the door frames and legs straight business, but I see that there are more of you out there :-)
