Could a enlarged spleen cause a bloat?

Yes if it stops the contents of the stomach leaving correctly then the gasses etc build up in the stomach & bloat occurs

& what does a spleen actualy do

The spleen monitors, destroys and stores red blood cells. In addition to this, the spleen has two functions, the red and white pulp. The white pulp helps fight infections and the red pulp removes unwanted materials.

Cancer of the spleen is quite common & this is what killed my Brett

I lost my GSD with this last week, he was 4yrs old.

Is it something that GSDs are prone to or have we just been unlucky?

ok,it was my boyfriends GSD. intersetingly his sister had spleen cancer,so i suspect it was that that enlarged the spleen & caused the bloat. hes not having a pm done on him.
but at least ive something to try to explain it,
