Good Luck to all at the Windsor show. Let us know how you all got on. :)
- By LucyD [gb] Date 30.06.06 17:39 UTC
Well, we only got 4th in our class, but while delving around in the pocket of the show bag where I keep my combs and brushes, I found Ellie's show lead & collar which I thought I'd lost at Newmarket!! And I've been to a couple of shows since then, so I don't know how I didn't spot them there before. So that's a bit of money saved anyway! :-)
- By Moonmaiden Date 30.06.06 17:53 UTC
LOL Lucy I've done that before now :D

Well done Brainless on winning Limit Bitch with Lexi
- By spiritulist [gb] Date 30.06.06 20:53 UTC

- By spiritulist [gb] Date 30.06.06 21:27 UTC
Thanks anna270787. Heres hoping OH and I don't start argueing again when we get lost.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 30.06.06 21:08 UTC
Oh thanks :D

She hates the heat, and even under the covered ring it was just so oppressive.  She just wouldn't show in the challenge, when I said stand it was a limp rag performance.  Dad did good getting the RCC.  Grandma had fun in the bitch challenge with a lady new to showing in the last year or so (she was second in the mixed sex Veteran class), but of course she could show herself having been trained from a puppy by my daughter than aged 10 with whom she did Junior handling as well as breed.

Was annoyed that the Brace stakes clashed with the bitch judging.

Have always been an ardent supporter of stakes and varieties, and also often enter more than one breed class with youngsters.

Didn't do so for WKC, £4 for a second entry, and £20 to enter stakes only if your breed happen to have CC's!!!  I have lost count of the number of stakes class entries I have wasted due to classes clashing.
- By spiritulist [gb] Date 30.06.06 21:43 UTC
Well done brainless, it was hot then?
- By Brainless [gb] Date 01.07.06 10:23 UTC
Terribly hot, it was 30'C yet some Moron had left a Borzoi in the car, and it was announced as in extreme distress!!!

When we went back to the car to go home we had to leave windows and doors open for twenty minutes before we could leave.

They should be put into their own car for half an hour to bake and See how they like it.
- By AlisonGold [gb] Date 01.07.06 11:10 UTC
We really need someone to start taking more direct action against these morons. I think they should be given 5 mins only to get back to car and then break in.  Also if found leaving a dog in car (in any distress) should be banned from showing for a certain amount of shows (or even life)!! We have just bought a fishing umbrella so hopefully we should be okay tomorrow, also got our wet/dry cloths to put on the dogs to make them comfortable.
- By Boxacrazy [in] Date 01.07.06 15:24 UTC
Dobie also in VW car out on tannoy today.
Put 2 calls out to go back to vehicle and then
they told them that vet and show manager going to car
and if they weren't at car by the time they got there
they would do whats necessary to get dog out.....

It was boiling by 11am!
It was 31 degrees when I got back to my car and it was
awful - thankfully I didn't have any dogs entered today.
- By cardy Date 01.07.06 17:36 UTC
I was watching the judging of a large coated breed and the steward informed an exhibitor that her other dogs which had been left in her van were in distress, to which she replied , no they are fine I have only just put them in.!!. Well, we were flabbergasted:eek:EVEN if she had only just put her dogs in the van, the fact that a steward had told her they needed help surely anyone with any sense or care for their dogs would IMMEDIATELY go to them:confused:. I just dont understand people. Anyway she stayed till the end of her class and then went to see them.
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 01.07.06 18:04 UTC

whos going to be their tomorrow?
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 02.07.06 07:17 UTC
Seemed to be lots of calls for Dobes, Kirstine. Just can't work out how these people think.

I took my four year old, who hadn't been to a show for at least 18 months (reabsorbed her litter, got infection, had to be speyed, finally got back to looking right and split her ear open LOL!) - she showed beautifully, and got 2nd in an admittedly small Post Grad class, but I was very pleased with her. That's her qualified anyway, probably won't take her, but nice to have the option.

Well done Jenny and Terri with the SWD's today.  See you can keep nothing hidden from me :d

Excellent, under what I consider to be a well respected judge too.

How is the arm now Lyndsay, any better?
- By ChristineW Date 03.07.06 06:38 UTC Edited 03.07.06 06:47 UTC
I don't know how that happened?   Everytime I hit Post, a strange message came up saying to try again, so as you can see I did!  I have told Admin though!

Although the wins were a great part of the day, when I arrived at the benches I found mine and a friend's bench & exhibitor numbers had been removed (With no trace of them!) and these benches & gangways blocked up cages & grooming tables from another breed.    My sister (Who'd been looking after cat) had just rung as I got to Windsor to say she'd lost her - she's still missing as I type this!   And then an exhibitor I really do like as a person, made an unsporting comment after judging which has all in all, taken the gilt of the gingerbread!

Although I have done well under Frank Kane with Mia, I must say he is a very polite, professional judge and he will always get an entry from me.
- By Harmony Date 03.07.06 11:36 UTC
It's getting better slowly thanks Sandra :)  I spent most of Saturday night in A&E but they were great when I did get seen (no dishy Docs though  :D )  They agreed that it was a really nasty infection, gave me an injection of something I don't remember, some really strong antibiotics, painkillers & more antihistimine with instructions to return mid-week or sooner if it got any worse.

I think the scariest thing was driving home, doG knows how I managed it   Maggie bless her had phoned Rich worrying but at least then he believed me

Are you going to South Wales?  Hopefully we'll be there, just hope the weather cools a bit.

Congratulations to everyone who had a succesful day :)
- By Teri Date 03.07.06 11:11 UTC
                        :) :) :) ~~~~~~  WAY TO GO!  congratulations Christine & Mia ~~~~~~ :) :) :)

And don't let anyone knock the icing off your cake ;)  He obviously really likes your bitch or wouldn't have done so well by her in the past!
- By shanab [in] Date 03.07.06 11:21 UTC
Ww had quite a good day with a 1st in PGB and a 2nd in Limit. Realised this am that we should have stuck around as the bitch that beat us took BB, but we really wanted to get her back for a drink and a rest. Never mind, fairly sure that the same bitch would have won reserve but it would have been nice to be in the line-up. But it was a great day. Sam.
- By DORA [gb] Date 03.07.06 11:22 UTC
Well done to everybody who did well:cool: Our first time at this show but loved it! my puppy got shortlisted down from 21 to the last 7 but the final walk was a walk to far and the poor love had no umpph left.... so hot.

As for the terribly distressing tannoy calls about dogs in cars:mad::mad:I spent the whole day fretting about how to keep my puppy cool, and she was in a crate on a bench at the edge of a tent with an sun reflector over and all of us taking turns to go back and spray the dogs with water and give them a drink.

I think that they should request your car registration number when you enter the show - then when a car is found with dogs in this is then cross referenced to the entry and then don't broadcast the registration SHOUT out the owners name and Affix and breed!!!

(rant over)

D
- By Brainless [gb] Date 03.07.06 11:49 UTC
I thought of that, but of course you cannot ever be sure that you will be using a particular vehicle.

I heard that at Blackpool they printed the persons bench numbers on the Car Park passes, now that is a great idea and should be done on them all from now on, and then yes their names announced for all to hear,a nd then banning from entering the next show, and reporting to the Kennel Club.

Anyone who can't be recognised in this way, maybe someone paying on the day or a visitor?  should have their vehicle clamped and have to report to show management to be dealt with.

Well it was Arnie's first champ show and he took it all in his stride. He finished 4th in his puppy class out of 10 (his brothers were 3rd and 5th) so a good day for his breeder and then in the afternoon he went into the puppy dog stakes. Well he finished 4th in that as well so I was a very happy person at the end of the day.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 03.07.06 19:49 UTC
Well done, especially the stakes.
- By briedog [gb] Date 03.07.06 20:24 UTC
