My 9 month pup has stated showing an interest in girls, mainly humans!! the problem is he likes children the most I have a baby due in 6  weeks  & He weighs nearly 6 stone! It's not always humping just general excitment. I'm not planning on getting him done as I'm hoping this is just a stage like a hormonal change. Just want to know if this is right or is this just the start?

Hi there

Perfectly normal behaviour for a male pup about to come into adolescence.  However, if you are due a baby and he is 6 stone at the current time, do you really think you will be able to cope with a dog that is behaving this way.  Its up to you as only you will know but he will go on like this until he is approximately 2 years old (maybe younger!) when his hormones will settle down.  He is just about to go into his "kevin" stage when things can get really difficult so all the training you did as a puppy will be put to the test.  Good luck.

His behavior is perfect apart from this I couldn't wish for a nicer dog & he knows he's wrong as soon as you tell him he runs off. I wouldn't dream of giving him up.  Do you reckon castration would stop this then? I know they turn in to handfuls that I can cope with as I have had males before but never had a humper!
