Does anybody have any experience or opinions on Wafcol. They have recently relaunched so really I am looking for views on the whole thing, packaging, ingredients, how it suits your dogs etc. Any opinions gratefully received.

The vegetarian option suited and made major improvements to many Westies with skin problems in the grooming parlour - not used it myself. :)

What is the difference between the old Wafcol ingredients and the new ones, Jeff?

I don't know! Never used the old stuff, for all I know there could well be no change.

One of our dogs is on salmon and potato, good food and suits the dog HOWEVER wafcol sales people who are on the stand at crufts....Thats different to the food!

However the food did clear up any problems with our boys skin.  Tried him on proplan salmon and rice (good for bad skins!) and his skin flared up again :( back on wafcol and his fine!

as I understand it from Wafcol's nutritionist a couple of months back it was only the packaging and the actual make-up of the foods that had changed - i.e. the ingredients and % of each were exactly the same, merely that the oils (certainly in the salmon & potato variety) were coated more on the outside of the kibble and also they had introduced different sizes for small/medium breeds as opposed to large size pieces only (too big for the mouths of smaller breeds IMO).

That said, the dog I had on this diet did have an upset tum on the medium kibble (which was notably more oily to the touch) but was fine on their re-packaged large breed kibble (appeared unchanged and so not nearly so oily as the new size/format!)   Methinks they weren't entirely straight with me ...... or their nutritionist wasn't kept fully up to speed on all developments

If they have changed it again more recently I sincerely hope it's back to the exact original recipe - don't much care what colour or material they use for the packaging, only what goes into my dog  ;)

Our puppy was on Wafcol when we first picked him up from the breeder.  We started to feed him a raw diet so we mixed the raw into his wafcol gradually.  It took about 2 days for our puppy to decide not to eat the wafcal, (however much it was mixed into his raw food) and just picked out the raw.  So from a dogs point of view it's probably not the tastiest food in the world!

Molly and Freya are on salmon and pot after the huge probs with Molly. Molly loves it and after several months on it will willingly eat it. I now add some natures diet as Freya prefers meaty tastes but it still disappears within mins.

My girls are on Wafcol adult chicken and have been fine with it even after they changed the packaging
one of them went through a stage when she was a puppy of having a sweaty belly which turned spotty I don,t think this is too unusual in puppies and this is when I changed everyone on to Wafcol I put the spotty one on Wacol junior which is salmon based and she was much better within days of changing her food.
now they both eat just the regular chicken adult one with no problems at all.
