I prefer to feed my adults twice a day.  What do you feed her?

I'm glad you have posted this adam, my CKCS is 10 months old and he is never keen on breakfast - he will eat a little in the afternoon and then a bit more in the evening but doesn't eat half as much as is recommended for his size. He is fed Arden Grange prestige and natures menu. I have been wondering for a while now if I would be better giving him one meal a day.

Most dogs if fed the recommended amount would be fat.

Mine get about half the amount advised for their size.  I also feed Arden Grange.  I use the Prestige on pups and lactating/pregnant bitches and the classic in Lamb or chicken on the adults.

Hi Brainless, when you say that you feed about 1/2 the recommended amount for their size, do you give them half of the lowest recommended amout? how do you work it? Harvey eats about 50g of prestige and 1/2 pack of natures menu per day. Natures menu say he should be eating 1-2 packs per day if fed alone and AG Prestige say between 81 - 128g per day. I started him on the Prestige as he was hardly eating anything and looked quite thin and dull. He is doing really well on this combination. Prestige isn't just for pregnant/lactating mums and puppies though is it? I thought it was suitable for any dog and its working for us as I don't have worry about getting him to eat huge quantities but still know he's getting a good balance of nutrients when he decides that he only wants to nibble:rolleyes: I know its said the fussy dogs are made not born but if I didn't try to accomodate Harvey's fussiness, he would look awful.

No :)  The analysis doesnt differ greatly between the lactating/pup one and the other AG formula's ;) I wonder if you could clarify what you meant by your above comment? It sounds as iff you think something negative would happen if this formula was fed to any other dog besides pregnant females or puppies

I only use the prestige when the dogs have higher nutrient requirements than normal, have used it on a fussy eater too, but usually stop using it when the pups get to adult weight.

I will use it for getting a dog back into condition after an especially heavy moult (post litter moult for example).

Mine just don't need something so calorie dense the rest of the time.  they only get 200g a day of the maintenance diets at 20kg adult weight.

The amount recomended for 20kg dog is 263g of the classic, mine get 175 - 200g depending on condition and excersise.

It advises for dogs 15 - 20 kg 217 - 265 g.

If they are getting Prestige they get less unless they are in whelp or rearing pups, again depends why I am feeding it.
