All this talk of pickling and preserving has got me thinking.

My favourite snack is pickled garlic from the local market, sold by some portugese fellas.  Unfortunately it's seriously expensive so I don't buy it very often (doesn't stay in the fridge long either)

So I'm wondering if anyone has a recipe for sweet pickled garlic.  The cloves stay white and crunchy and its coated with paprika (scrummy :) )  As garlic is really cheap right now it's the perfect time to try making it.

I've been searching the net but nothing seems appropriate :(

Any help appreciated

If you type PICKLING GARLIC into google, lots of results come up including this page which has a good recipe near the bottom

LOL @ Brainless :p :p :p

Thanks for the links - I didn't get anything like that when I searched the web  don't know why, my sister gets different results to me as well and she has the same ISP

Glad I asked, I read the one link and now I'm safe from Botulism    I really would have tried preserving garlic in oil    but not any more ;) ;)

I'll let you know when I've made some if it's any good :)

LOL

Once it's been pickled the taste and smell is much, much milder, in the same way as pickled onions are much milder than raw ones.  It's much nicer than pickled onions tho ;)

my friends eat pickled garlic so don't really notice (they introduced me to it ;) ) but my sisters have commented that there's no garlic smell on me or my breath afterwards and they'd definately say :D :D :p
